Stopping the shallow center stuff?

Tried searching but couldn't find anything, so sorry if this has been discussed:

I'm having an impossible time stopping TE's and slot receivers on quick slants and drags. On man the defender is always behind and mid-zones drop far too back to be effective. Does anyone have any strategies on this?

Re: Stopping the shallow center stuff?

You could try cover two and before the snap shift your defensive into "show blitz"

You could try zone blitzes that have d-linemen drop into coverage

In man defense shade the WRs to the inside

Set your ILB to QB spy. It functions somewhat like a shallow hook zone

I'll try the spy option. I've done show blitz before and zone blitz works great on stopping the two outside quick slants. My main issue is the TE falling underneath things like Cover 2 or the slot WR dragging underneath it.

Re: Stopping the shallow center stuff?

Since we are on this subject, I got killed by a guy who ran 2 plays on offense. One was from 4wr snugs and he would make the slot receiver on the right side do like a swing route and no matter what I did, I could not defend this until after the ball was caught.

Second was out of a 3wr set and he had the double wrs doing stacked routes (same thing) on top of eachother so your players would be confused on where the ball was going and it worked everyime.

I know it sounds confusing, but it killed me!
