Re: Stopping the pass...

Well, that works. Never listen to Madden, all he says is:

"This will surely stop them!"
"This Defense will stop them!"
"They wont' be going anywhere with this Defense!"

Something like that.

Re: Stopping the pass...

Hey Jag- My madden teams are by no means defensive stalwarts, but, I have had success playing as the FS and doing exactly what the play dictates. I held Kerry Collins to 95 yards one game, then gave up 370 to Jeff Blake the next week so it's hard to say. I know when I get down 14pts or so I start to freelance to make something happen and I get toasted.

Re: Stopping the pass...

I used to never be able to stop the pass, and here is what I've done to get accurate results. If you're pretty sure it's going to be a pass, spread your defensive line out (on xbox, left trigger + d pad up). This helps the pass rush for the ends (and despite what I've seen on this board, BOTH my DE's get sacks, not just LE), but you'll get burned if they run. Also, definitely use playmaker control to commit to the pass. When the QB drops back, push up on the right stick to defend the pass. Again, you'll get toasted if they run a draw, but it's worth the gamble.

Re: Stopping the pass...

I usually control a DT, DE, or sometimes MLB. I usually choose randomly before the play starts, and then stay on them until it ends. If I think it's going to be a pass, I usually choose a DE and take a wide outside route to the QB. Sometimes they step up in the pocket to escape the rush, but at least if you can get them moving they tend to make less accurate throws.

Re: Stopping the pass...

I'm having the same problem...

Granted I'm the the Broncos that they have one of the crappiest rated Dbs. In my last game Drew Brees threw 15-33 for 350 yards based on 3 huge plays.

It wouldn't be so bad but this is the second game that it's happened. I try to shy away from leaving my DBs on islands. However that doesn't seem to help.

I don't konw what to call anymore and I get getting burned on typical madden big plays.

Re: Stopping the pass...

I hate huge plays, but then that's basically the only way the computer is going to get catches and offensive yards.
