I think I've hit the wall in online ranked matches

I started off, I think... 20-4, or something close. I'm now 24-12. I've started to lose more and more because my competition is getting better and I can't improve to match the new, heightened level of play I'm facing.

I'm a practice junkie-- I've probably spent at least 20 hours in practice, which, to put in perspective, is probably roughly the same amount of time I've spent playing the game in ranked.

I feel like at this point, the players I'm being matched up against are too good for me to simply be able to practice against the CPU and expect to be on their level as a result.

But, at the same time, losing should be a learning experience. One simply has to figure out why he lost and do his best to rectify those mistakes. However, I don't feel like that's happening, either. I don't make mistakes and then look and say "I know exactly what he did and how to attack it next time." I just end up dumbfounded and have no idea what caused me to throw picks, give up big passes, etc.

What I'm asking for is advice. Advice regarding how to get better in online ranked play-- how to figure out what the other person is doing and how to counter it.

Basically, I want to become a better football player.
