That's a great question, Sloezy!
I want to follow that up with some specifics.
I'm thinking about building a team after the model of the Jimmy Johnson era Cowboys. What playbooks on offense and defense would make sense?
I'm thinking either power run or balanced offense, and here's how I'd break it down:
QB: Pocket Passer
HB: One Cut
FB: Blocker
TE: Receiver
WR1: Possession/Vertical Threat (emphasizes Spectacular Catch and CIT)
WR2: Speed
OL?
DE: Pass Rush (Tolbert and Haley) or Balanced
DT: Prototype (Russel Maryland and Tony Casillas) or Pass Rush
MLB: Run Stopper
OLB: Prototype (JJ was huge on raw speed at LB)
CB: Holt and Brown don't strike me as man guys, so maybe Zone
S: Balanced
That's based on the '92 Championship team, anyway.
