That is a great article. I would LOVE to see packaged plays like the zone read/bubble screen in next years game.

Another aspect that the article didn't mention is the difference between the inside zone read and the outside zone read.

Basically, on the inside zone read the running back will line up about a yard behind and to the side of the QB. The QB will read the weakside DE, and determine whether to keep it or hand off to the RB. The RB is running towards the strongside OG, as if it was a dive or an inside zone play.

On the outside zone read, the running back will line up directly beside the QB, like it is on most Madden shotgun formations. Again, the QB will read the DE. This time, the running back will run outside like it is a stretch play.

Right now in Madden, the outside zone read is what is in the game. I think there is 1 formation in the Packers playbook that has an offset RB, but it is not in any other playbook and I don't think it has the inside zone read.

Next year, Washington and any other team who uses the zone read should have more formations with an offset runningback so you can run the inside zone read as well as the outside zone read.

Pgaither, are you really in Peru? If not I would recommend that you invest in NFL Game Rewind. You get the All-22 film from every game during this season (2012) and many of the big plays from the last three seasons dating back to 2009. I love it and judging by your breakdowns you would too.

I just watch the games, and when they do instant replays, I take screen captures and break down why a play did or did not work.

The second play you have up should have worked had the RG not whiffed on the block. The penetration by the DE is not a bad thing for the offense. It should have been an easy kick block as the DE penetrated and showed his numbers, this is actually bad defensive technique. Had the block been made by the RG, the FB had the DB coming into the hole and it was an easy 6.

As a Brit i watch games this year through GamePass for the first time this year from t'interweb and through pc to tv in lounge. is that an option for Peru? its costs £129 iirc in uk but well worth it for me, er indoors and i watch lots of games through the week.
