Re: CB XP Allocation
haha, yeah, cover 2 man under is a nice safe play, at the worst, you've got a guy attempting to cover each WR plus 2 safeties help overtop, so even if the safety is "late" getting over, you've still got a guy in the area. With cover 2 zone, you've got only those 2 guys deep. It's really only useful against short-intermediate routes, because you've only got 2 guys back, but you've got an extra guy covering the middle of the field. But it's very vulnerable especially streaks on the sidelines and down the middle (both in real life and madden).
But, if your safety is fast enough (in real life), he can usually defend his 1/2 of the field reasonably well and limit the deep ball to a contested catch and not an automatic TD like madden often enjoys doing.
But if you are playing a cover 2 zone, you really want your CB's having a high press and strength and to be great in run-support (like, the tampa 2 defense).
Because that way you don't let those WR's get deep very quickly since you're pressing them hard, and you've got big physical CBs who can shed blocks and make tackles in run support (since they are generally living in the flats)
