Madden 13 CC - trading for franchised players

Does anyone know if/when you can resign a player who was franchised by another team that you traded for?

i.e. The Packers franchised Clay Matthews, but then I traded for him during the preseason. It's now week 4 of the regular season and he still hasn't come up for resigning.

Does this follow the same glitch that trading for a player in the last year of his contract does?

It's a glitch that happens to every player you trade for in their last year, I heard you can cut them than resign during the season although I never tried it.

Check the "re-sign players" screen under Personnel. If he doesn't come up in that one, you should cut him and pick him up again in free agency right away. That way, you'll have a shot a re-signing him the week before free agency starts.
