Comparing PS2 random draft classes to the draft classes today completely ignores many factors and deteriorates an argument.
On the PS2, the game simply created randomly-generated stats, then stuck random names on the players. That was it. Nothing more to see here, except goofie players with 60 acceleration and 99 speed.
The current Madden is doing far more with the draft classes. All the stories that surround these draft picks are dependent upon who they are. So to randomize these players completely, yet allow the game to still offer the story-driven aspect is likely difficult given the current technology.
So to simply say "lol, last gen had randomly-generated rookies, dev team is teh stoopid" is off-base (and makes you look silly
).
