Referees and penalties?

Does anyone else remember late last year it was announced that EA was going to include the official referees into this years Madden. Well I assumed that with this there would be some mention of improved penalties (i.e. penalties actually being called), but it appears it will be a presentation only factor of the game.

I found it puzzling that that information would be leaked and yet will only have a very small impact on the game. I have also noticed constant reference to injuries in the other playbooks which lead me to believe that the injury system would be revamped but that also seems to have been disregarded.

I still feel that a lot of information is being held back, I'm yet to see anything that has wowed me into becoming overly excited about Madden NFL 25. I'm still going to buy the game and I like the features being introduced/brought back, but there just seems to be a lack of a defining feature.
