Would You Consider HB/FB/TE Streaks Out The Backfield Legit SIM Strategy?

I consider it one of the weakest exploits people use in the game when they can't move the ball traditionally. I play in SIM Leagues/Communities exclusively but every now and then when screening new members i see this tactic come out if they've begun to struggle passing.

To be clear curls to IMO are fine as they are a legitimate check down option that we see represented in the games we see on Sundays, but I can't think the last time a saw a HB or a TE catch a pass on a 'streak' out of the backfield 15, 20, 30 yards down-field...

So am I in line with my thinking or should I reconsider my approach? We even thought about banning the route (ie: double TE streaks/fades) due to the 'over' effectiveness of lead passing.

Re: Would You Consider HB/FB/TE Streaks Out The Backfield Legit SIM Strategy?

IMO a RB/FB streak out of the backfield is blatant disregard for SIM gameplay.

Now, a TE streak on the other hand can go both ways. If the tight end streak is part of a play that include all other receivers running streaks then I would NOT consider it SIM.

Now if the TE streak is already designed into the play (non hot-route) then I would not be against it as long as it is not combined with multiple other streaks (as stated above) and have a limited use i.e. 6 targets to the TE on steaks is NOT realistic, I could understand 1 or 2, maybe 3 at the very most depending on when and how they are used.

The Broken Record Player says:

A fully customizable playbook would fix this. There should be no such thing as a "non-sim" play as long as it conforms to NFL formation rules. In the real NFL you can run streaks out of the back field all day long.

Fully customized playbooks would allow you to adjust to any strategy, tactic or situation.

And it's long overdue.

The the thing is you DON'T SEE THIS ON SUNDAYS...they are not redirected, bumped, or anything. It works vs man/zone in conjunction with lead passing.

My argument is it's not apart of conventional NFL offenses, routes out the backfield consist of curls, swings, delays, wheels, screens and the like etc. You don't see Bush, Sproles running streaks out the backfield on Sundays as two of the better receiving threats.

I agree with all you said, but would add that if the pass rush wasn't so ineffective and slow, streaks out of the backfield would be far less effective in the game.

Add in making players in the backfield have to "navigate" through "trash" at the LOS would help alleviate the over effectiveness of said routes...

The thing is, you really dont see streaks out of the backfield. I can't recall one instance in which i saw this done in the NFL. With that being said, There is obviously a reason why this isn't done in the NFL. Now, whatever those reasons are, it more than likely falls under the category of things we don't have to worry about it madden. The idea Of a sim madden league is to simulate what you see on sunday. Since we never see this on sunday, you can assume there is a reason and should probably not allow it in your league.
