You can't switch a LE or RE to a linebacker once you enter into your franchise. You can only switch them from the right side to left side or visa versa.
So make your changes before you start your franchise.

It's my understanding you CAN do that but only in the offseason.

Nope tried to switch dion Jordan to linebacker sense I am running a 3-4 in Miami. And I couldn't only to LE AND RE.

Just to get clarity, when are you trying to switch positions? Pre-season doesn't count. You have to complete year 1 and process in the off-season.

Unless there's an offseason before your first preseason game.

Just to give you more context, it has to be offseason for the game to decide on goals to achieve for the player. Goals are based on position and goals can't be changed mid year.

Yes you start off in the off-season before you go to the preseason.
