Same here man, I'm not buying the full game either, this is my off weekend and I wanna play with my Cowboys. I'll rent the game on release day then after a week or two with the rental I'm usually happy I didn't purchase the full game. This will be my strategy from now on with Madden.

I got it working now, try it again. Servers went down for a minute, came back, and now I've got the DL started.
