Heres how I'd prefer to control players...

To run, I'd rather s
Use the triggers to control a players stride. Left, right, left , right
Moving both legs building up speed, if I stop striding (alternating pulling the left then right then left again etc, then the player begins to slow down as he loses momentum eventually coming to a stop. The left stick would still control direction while the right stick would control my upper body.
When not being wrapped up by a defender (not engaged) the right stick should stiff arm right and left, lower my body/head for a truck move and by pulling down I can straighten up my body to allow guys to pass by me.
When engaged, BOTH Stride control (Left and Right triggers), and Sticks change moves.
If Im being wrapped up and gang tackled and my momentum has been slowed and Im engaged, my strides should go from faster more consistent speed pulls to digging with each trigger pull and pumping the legs of the runner for MAX Torque. As this happens I can lean my weight forward with the left stick and have control of my arms with the right stick. To push off defenders.
As a QB Id like to have the ability to use the right stick to throw the ball as we can in baseball games. Selecting receivers by hitting left/right the right stick maybe then winding up an throwing.
The controls we have and the way we play football needs some innovation.
I like this years Game Im just saying its time for someone to present a new way to play videogame football.

Yes me too. Plus then it becomes even more of a game of stick skills rather than strategy.

You have Strategery in how you handle each situation.
Thats consistent in the current control scheme and my idea.
I think theres strategy in how we now control. Its just stale for someone whos been playing since the Genesis days and specifically using this style of controls and way of presenting football since what? Playstation 2/Xbox?

Ever play NHL? As said above, it wears out the LS and RS while skating.

I remember alternating button presses in the SNES days to get my guy to run in a game. It was not fun.
