If this ends up working for more people, I'd suggest updating the OP with this workaround so it can get attention.

Good job to everyone that helped out. Is it perfect? Nah, but at least there's a workaround until EA takes care of it on their end.

For me it was running really slow between the menu's and when I switched from a wireless connection to a wired connection it seemed to solve this slowing problem for me.
