Onside Kicks?

can you recover onside kicks? ive never seen one work and im sitting here in practice mode doing onside kick after onside kick. am i doing it wrong or they just not possible?

Same here. I thought they had it perfect last year where I could recover 25-33% of the time (about NFL average). Now it's seemingly impossible. If your down by two scores and can't stop the clock, the game is over.

i have yet to come close to recovering an onside kick

alright ive actually been able to get a few. the only way ive gotten them is wiggling the stick side to side really fast, and you will notice the kick accuarcy line, that isnt supposed to move, will move slightly. when this happens the return team can not automatically catch it and there is sometimes a fight for the ball. i cant get this to happen everytime but im still experimenting

trying around a little more moving the stick slightly offcentered(like to the top left corner to bottom right corner)really fast for your kick provides the best results

so if you do it right your kick should have little to no power and you can see the accuary line move slightly

25-33% is a rather wide margin to call an average. Looking at various sources it's about 20-25% so calling 33% average is padding the numbers a bit. Even still very much of the success rate of onside kicks has to do with the surprise onside kick. When teams are expecting it the percentage is even lower.

So I think what they need is not to increase the chance of regular onside kicks but rather bring back the higher percentage surprise onside kick. Because lets face it, in Madden you can pretty easily predict when an onside kick is coming and if you do it should have the much lower percent chance of a known onside kick as opposed to a surprise one.

At least for online play it should be a very low percentage play IMO. Even lower than real life because anything close to 25% is going to be abused.

I wish I had video of it now, but I think I've only seen about 2 not recovered out of the bunch I've had between myself, the computer, and a couple online guys. I seemingly always get them when I kick them
