Historic Teams Online for Madden 2005. Can this be done?

I think EA did a great job with historic teams in 2004, and this feature is by far one of my favorite aspects of the game. They included the editing feature this year by request, and the teams are imported/exported as individual files for each team. Is it possible to take these teams online and is there interest? While there seemed a huge demand for editing of classics, I don't see too many threads about this game feature at OS or Maddenmania, compared to other topics. I am curious about just how much interest there is on this aspect of the game. Can the classics be merged into one roster file like all other roster files; NCAA/Madden? I would think so. With the legal issues concerning using former player's names, is EA willing to push the envelope and combine the classic teams to one roster file, allow gamers to edit names and upload them for online play LIKE IT IS DONE WITH NCAA? (you can play NCAA with edited/added names, as long as attributes are not changed, right?). Adding this feature would add yet another huge element of replayability to the game for me, and increasing the replayability to any game has to be of interest to EA as well, doesn't it? I am interested in everyone's opinions!

My personal opinion is that EA will skirt this issue and will likely focus on online franchise and leagues instead, but I'm still hoping!

yea i really like the sound of that idea (as long as they can get some of the more recent teams with their real names and numbers)

yeah that would be cool also you could download the real names of the historic rosters also, I really hope Madden 2005 comes out online for xbox.

We can edit names already, EA will NEVER put out rosters that include the names/likenesses already. My point was that I want to have the ability to PUSH the names up for an online game with someone else, so you could play historic team vs. historic team online with someone.

I wish they allow you to put classic teams in season mode!!

that would be cool. but only if they stopped ranking the historic teams on a different scale than they do the current teams. it kills it for me that virtually all the players on any given historic team are in the 90's/high 80's (backups included). it makes it so there's no way to accuratly matchup todays teams with the historic teams. i find it odd that they would continue doing it their way when its so obvious that one scale for all teams would be much cooler. like the world league teams that are ranked on the same scale as the current nfl teams...

I agree with you, but a few players should be rated higher than most, (Joe Montana,Jim Brown,J.Rice
Barry Sanders,Dick Butkus,etc...)because they were superstars and played the game the way it was meant to be played.

I wish that someone makes a game where you could replay any year in the NFL with real players
or create a leaque with teams from different eras.
