Will we ever be able to use the previous years franchise files?

I usually get through 3 years of my franchise, if I am lucky, until the next years game comes out and then after going back and forth I always trade up and start a new franchise.

Is it so hard for these companies to add a feature that allows you to keep your franchise going, it would only encourage more people to upgrade every year. Does anyone know if this has even been mentioned somewhere?

Maybe for the next generation consoles but not on the PS2 or XBox... I know PC users can do that for games like OOTP but I think it would be near impossible to do it right now on the consoles.

What, or should I say how, would the issue make even needing the new game each year. This is why you will not see this feature. If you import draft classes from NCAA you already have those guys in your franchise so the need for the updated rosters would not be there and many people try to keep the rosters up to date as possible. I have never had a problem starting over every year as teams are constantly changing things around on the rosters and depth charts. I just dont see how they could incorporate it to bring in an exsisting franchise from a previous year since the rosters would be so hard to work around.

I would like to be able to export my historic rosters...even if names and numbers only...from my current 2004 ones. I would imagine with more features, in terms of equipment, faces, etc., that those things would not be exportable, and you would have to re-do.

might never see this b/c the new franchise features change yearly, think about trying to convert a madden 2003 franchise to 2004 with owner mode, no way they'd take the time to code this and even if they did it would be glitchy as hell with corrupt files and such.
