They aren't screwing you over, because YOU don't have to buy the game. All the people saying its a good move by EA are saying it because IT IS. If Sega did the same thing you all would be jumping around saying that finally ESPN can match Madden in sales. Bunch of damn hypocrites.

it is true ...this isnt just a gaming rumor....wall street has acted upon this as well eas stock is around 47 dollars a share...and is expected to rise to 57 dollars a share over the next 12 months ..with a high end ceiling of about 65-70 dollars a share....all this news is based upon this deal being done...

There is another rumor going around that EA is in negotiations to purchase Sega. Now that would be the death knell of the ESPN line of games, unless Microsoft did the smart thing and scooped up VC before EA was able to disband them.

However, if we are just talking about player licenses, I'm not ready to bury ESPN yet. Plenty of people play Winning Eleven instead of FIFA despite the fact that FIFA owns just about every license there is. They recognize a better game of soccer when they see one. I for one won't have any problems at all playing ESPN with player numbers instead of names- really, how different an experience is it from playing NCAA? Not very. VC can still count on $50 from me, and I'm sure from quite a few other people as well. Whether that is enough to keep them afloat for the next four years, I don't know.
