any word on online leagues?

I remember on E3, they said, expect a big announcement in June. Was the collector's edition the big suprise?? If it was, then what a joke that is, but I thought it was supposed to be online that the announcement was for.

no "official" announcement yet. but i had 3 dudes from 2 of the EA booths (the xbox live booth and the EA sports booth) confirm that there will be web-based online leagues this year. don't know if they were jumping the gun on that or what, but i am expecting online leagues to be in this years version.

According to the interview we did at Madden Wishlist, no online franchise this year.

Maybe this is their big June announcement though, but at least here they say it's not.

According to this fact sheet posted on GameSpot, Madden will support online league play

It's possible that this is what's going on:

In the PC version of 2004, they do have "online leagues" -- what this means is, you play ONE season with the current rosters, including playoffs, etc. There's no offseason, once the first season is done, it's over.

In the MW interview, we asked about "Online Franchises", which implies successive years, I suppose.

Maybe they added "leagues" but not "franchises" to PS2 online.
