ESPN hands down on both sides of the ball.

Yeah ESPN nails the playbooks better and the way you pick them. The way they have it set up to pick plays on defense with your line first, then linebackers and secondary is exactly the same way I did it in college last year.

I thought ESPN had superior defensive playbooks and options. I still prefer Madden's offensive playbook though. It fits my style of play better.

Have you noticed that Madden has some of the same plays, or at least some passing routes that have many "angles," as NCAA 2005? Some have that half-a-hexagon corner route. I've never seen that in a Madden game before. Anyone else notice this?

Re: Which game has the most realistic playbooks?

I'm going to give ESPN the SLIGHT edge. Madden does BEAT them with a bit of the defensive content with plays already in the playbook that spy the QB, DE Contain. And defensively madden has a few fronts that are pretty cool that we don't have, like 43 over, under, 46 and 46 Bear (not the same as 43 Bear which we have in ESPN), Nickel Strong, Dime Flats, Quarters 3 Deep. And add to that the packaging that is available (I would love these in ESPN), hmmm after listing all that I dunno. Well I think ESPN's offense might have the edge due to it categorizing the passing plays. It's easier to select what you want to do. While there is a short passing game in madden, I don't see plays designed specifically for 3 step drops. I think all the drops are close to the same, could be wrong though, since I've only played like 3 games.

Yep, I love that route. Mix it in occationally and it can be pretty effective. I liked it better in the past when just my RB would use it though.
