How come I never knew of the "Double Tap A" while running the ball???

Yep thats been in madden for awile now the tap A to break tackles.
Tapping A at the right moment once you get wrapped will give you a better chance of breaking the tackle, its never been in the manuals though!

While your speed bursting you can tap the a repeatedly, or even if your not speed bursting, Ive found it very useful to break tackles.

Yes the A button (Speed Burst) has 2 features Break tackle (tapping) or Speed burst (Hold A)

NCAA 2005 as well does it too!

Ahh... oh, ok. Yeah, that's a given.

Actually, the best way to do it is to tap the button of the area you're getting hit.

I'll use the PS2 layout:

Square=Left
Triangle=Forward
X=Behind
Circle=Right

I think this started on Madden '02 for the PSOne.

Holy crap, I never knew what Pared was talking about. As for the double tapping A, I didn't know that either. I knew that a single tap of A was a shoulder charge in NCAA, but I figured that was replaced by the Y button in this years Madden. Gotta go try this out.

Yup. I wish I could remember what Madden it was from... any help?

It was either '01 or '02... it was DEF. for PSOne... maybe '00?

I think you have to do it while you have a defender trying to tackle you.. He probably has to be touching your player.
