Will there be a Madden 2006 Overhaul?

I've seen several posts where people intimate that they expect Madden '06 to undergo a major enigine overhaul.

Wouldn't a total engine overhaul be dictated by the release of PS3 and XBox2? I don't think either of those two platforms are scheduled for release prior to a Madden '06 release.

I think we're in for one more year of Madden (and ESPN for that matter) as they were this year with a few added bells and whistles, but no new major engine changes until the '07 release.

That isn't necassarily a bad thing.......

I believe you are correct. There won't be any overhauls until next-gen.

I don't see why anyone would want an overhaul. The game is nearly perfect -- given available technology -- as it can be. If you consider all the work that's gone into building up this version of Madden, the first couple versions on a new engine would be horrendous.

Perfect I don't think so Play Epsn 2k5 and you'll see why madden is OK but not perfect or nearly perfect same can be said about Espn franchise mode !!!

Yep. I think anyone expecting a graphics or engine overhaul next year are going to be dissapointed. There's no way either company will overhaul their respective games when they'd have to do it again when next gen consoles come out.

I've tried ESPN, and I hate it. Madden is perfect to me. ESPN's franchise mode is blown away by Madden's too.
