Madden 2002, ps2, old time teams, can anyone confirm this to be true?

When on the team selection page, push R1+L1+o+L2+R2. then when you scroll down on the team list you will get teams from the 1910-1935. The players are in black and white, and there helmets are the really old kind.

Well, I think Madden 2003/2004 changed the UI on the team selection to be up/down or maybe they are referring to Madden 2002 PC version?

I feel like I have a memory of the old helmets in Madden. Could be a Mandela Effect though...

I KNOW ncaa ps2 games had single bar helmets. Maybe even leather also.
