Hex Editing Draft Classes

I was curious about it, so I decided to open up a draft class file in a hex editor and see what there was. Now I'm no expert on it, and I've never actually hex edited something before but I did find some similarities that would be interesting if someone changed.

After you scroll down a bit, you'll find an area that looks like this.



It's consistent all the way through, so it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out what equals what. One thing that I noticed is the numbers that I highlighted. After each player name, there is some blank space, then a value of 03, another space, then a number. I highlighted it above. The top players are 63, then 62, and it keeps going all the way down until the bottom...



Just guessing, I assume that it has something to do with either when the player is drafted or when they are projected to go. I really want to test it out, but I can't because my flash drive isn't working for some reason. If anyone else has any insight or information, feel free to pitch in. I think it would be cool to somehow use this to find a way to make the draft classes as realistic as possible.

man! i'm not up on hex editing but i'd be interested also if all it took was changing a few numbers.

Same here...iBeen looking at that hex stuff for the last 2 weeks!! and iStill dont know whats going...lol. iNotice you said "players name" how can you tell what numbers belong to what players (iN Hex program).

In the draft classes it's easy. Most HEX programs translate the code for you on the right, which is what you see to the right of the code where you can see all the players names.

The numbers after the name is what's difficult. It could be any number of things. Ratings, appearance, height/weight, etc. Some simple testing could figure it out, but like I said I can't get Modio or my flash drive to work so I can't test it myself.

I saw your topic and started looking into it myself and cant seem to find anything similer to yours in any of the files. Are you using a PS3 save file or XBox? If your using a PS3 file which file are you opening?

I know NOTHING about the topic, but this makes me think someone could manipulate these numbers to make a 100% accurate class...

I'm bumping this thread because I'm really interested in this. Hopefully someone on OS will be able to figure this out and be able to edit all the ratings for draft classes.

This is from the NCAA side.

PocketScout started it and we've been trying for a while now.
He actually developed an App that will pull player (recruit) data so it's readable.
Could probably do the same for Madden.

Just can't edit anything or it corrupts the roster save.

The problem is that there is an additional security feature that we can't seem to get past to get the game to recognize an altered roster save.

One thing I found was that any edit changes/erases roster date within load roster screen.
Even editing in Modio directly changes/erases the roster date also.

Someone mentioned that simply opening on an OS system (Microsoft) causes the OS to stamp/change something on the file that corrupts it. (don't know if true or not)

I thought this may have been that secondary security and tried to compare line-by-line to catch what was changed, but stopped fooling with it last year when school started. (very long process)

That was last year, maybe things have progressed since then.

What about hokupguy? He found all the edits for NBA 2K11. There will be an editor available for this game on the 360 soon. Maybe he can hook us up with Madden 11.

Why would NBA 2k11 need hex editing? You can edit ratings for all players and draft classes normally.

Oh yes I can! Add to that a Braves & Nashville Predators fan as well. I'm scattered all over the map with sports teams.
