I know you can edit coaches. I am curious if you can import coaches. Say from like a previous game.

Yes, but you NEED to replace/add/delete a few columns in the roster. That is what you do when you port rosters between different Madden versions.

Is this adding/replacing/deleting of columns something I can do, or can only the editor creator do that? And if I can do it myself, could anybody point me in the direction of a step by step guide on how to do that, thanks for any help!

Question -

I would like to overwrite the default m09 roster with a custom 2002 roster. My method, open 09 roster in cvs. Update all possible fields. When I goto import the cvs roster, I expect there to be fields missing. I could export a default cvs and immediately import it, and still have fields missing, preventing the cvs to import. To fix this, could I just add the missing fields/definitions (i.e PUP4) to the very end of the cvs up top?

Export the cvs (excel spreadsheet). If your pc didn't come with a program, try OpenOffice.

When you open your exported roster spreadsheet cvs, you will see the long list of tables at the very top. Open both 17 and 12 rosters in spreadsheet. In a blank area, put both of the top lines on top/bottom of each other. Look at the difference. They will either be missing or have extra tables added, compared to each other. You want 12 to be your roster, so, whatever isn't listed in 17 but is in 12, just add that table to the very top and leave what is below it blank. Next, whatever is listed under the 17 roster that isnt in 12, delete. Make sure all is thorough. Then try to import. The madden12editor will tell you what fields are missing each time you goto import it.

It may be better to just choose to keep the field entry blank, rather than just using a 0.

Also note, CC is different from rosters. Cc has more tables. Also just a guess, but we shouldn't edit CC until we sim to week 1 of regular season. Not sure.
