    Current sliders vs. Updates coming

I am now enjoying Madden11 due to the fine work by Mike and Playmaker on the sliders. I've adjusted them a bit to my liking/skills and I've had some good competitive games; using a number of different teams only in the PLAY NOW mode, for now.

Which brings me to my question: What is the thought of the current sliders since we have two updates coming; early Sept and late Sept. It looks from what I've read, the late September update should address the main issue of locomotion hurting the reaction of the defense, causing so many big plays.

So, slider guru's - what is the plan with the updates coming? Just use the sliders for now and adjust after the update?

I have not started a franchise yet; wasn't planning on it until the second update in late Sept.

Yep Just gonna keep updating. In my opinion* the current slider sets out right now are pretty solid when you want to talk about mine and playmakers. I feel like other than that the patch shouldn't have an extremely heavy effect on the current sliders, but the defensive pass reaction times may need to go down after they beef up the defenses.

You really made a great point when you said that you adjusted sliders to make them fit your game style. I really hope people stop making slider sets though its amazing how many slider sets are up on these boards that are ALMOST exactly similar its absolutely a joke. People need to ADJUST instead of taking a variant of a slider set and re posting them as a whole new set. Most people say "I like Mike's and PM's sliders so I made my own tweaks" and I think that is great but there is no need for you to make a whole new thread called "Combo of MIKES and PLAYMAKERS SLIDERS" (Fake example obviously). I'm just saying that people need to start making their own adjustments and play their own game.

Again if you feel like you're slider set is new and brings something to the table that no other set brings up then by all means post em up but this obsession with posting sliders that are a combination of 3 and 4 different sets that are already up has got to stop.

Re: Current sliders vs. Updates coming

Thanks for the response. No, I'm not at all going to post "my" sliders - no need for that. I'm mainly interested in your view on really whether or not to start a franchise or wait until the updates, assuming the updates would then cause an update needed in the sliders - hope that makes some sense.

Like everyone in here, I just want to enjoy the game and feel like I've "earned" it when I win and "deserved it" when I lost.

Lastly I'll say this - I've certainly given up some big plays, and you know what - it was on me. I called bad defensive plays in hindsight and it was my fault. I've also had some great plays on offense - big ones that again - I earned them; good play calls. Big plays happen in the NFL; they alter statistics all the time. Run of 3, 2, 4, -2, gain of 25; the YPC is over 6, etc.

My frustration with the defense in this game is that when I look at replays, the defender seems "stuck" and doesn't react to at least make a tackle. That's what I hope gets fixed. Other than that; honestly; I think EA did a very nice job with this year's game.

Thanks for the great efforts on all of this. And of course....GO SEAHAWKS!!!!

When the patch is released I will start off by playing a few games and work my way from there. I'm pretty sure after a set number of games I will be able to evaluate and determine what needs to be changed for my slider settings to make it as realistic as possible again.
