    Madden 13 Sliders : Difficulty

Okay. . .don't seem to be getting much traffic in main forum.

Here's the deal: Madden has historically offered skill level changes via the level setting: All-Madden, All-Pro, etc. As well, setting it to Custom allowed changes to various elements of game play which, we know, could also simulate the level setting, i.e., a sub-296 (or whatever) sum of sliders maintained many of the characteristics we witnessed when playing on All-Madden (e.g., fast kick meter).

This year the interface offers a "level" setting as well as sliders. You can change the "level" setting (All Madden, Pro, All-Pro etc) and there are no changes to the sliders, neither yours nor the cpu, and vice versa (setting Level to Rookie and dropping sliders to zero leaves setting at Rookie).

Now, I've come upon a number of posts stating that "All Madden" is pretty tight this year, and others stating that it seems easy. Last night I took Cleveland against Green Bay using one of JD_Seven's early slider sets (e.g., PB 17, QBA 17/34. . .a sub 296 set). It played fine and I recognized the certain oddities that the set produced (so I know that the "sliders" were in play). But I pounded Green Bay. At one point, AR was 1/4 and they had absolutely no ground game. Colt McCoy went 8/9 45 yds. Now, I'm pretty certain that setting everything to 50 across the board isn't the root cause, as I had played a game "out of the box" with results closer to the first game mentioned.

I then exited the game, looked at some different features of the GUI and noticed that the level was at Pro or something like that. . . but that my sliders were intact. I toyed with the level and noticed no change to the sliders...then changed it to All Madden and moved the sliders to 50 across the board (initiating a test)...VERY different game. AR went 6/6 47 yards (high percentage, albeit short passes) and while their run game wasn't superb (maybe 3.3 ypc), it was smarter. Defensively, they shut me down.

So, more testing is necessary, but I'm wondering, a bug/error, or has EA finally split level and sliders, such that the sliders, affecting movement and the like, is now unique from any AI "intelligence" or am I hoping for too much? Admittedly, this is but two games, and I'm wondering what you are noticing.

I can't wait to get the game to check all of this out.. I wonder why it wasn't like that on the Demo.. They still had the old setup..

Yeah, I just wish they would have spent 1/10 of the time they spent on building the CCM manual on a gameplay/settings manual.

It bumps user sliders to 75 everything if you select Pro difficulty.

Really? How? Are you, then, stating that if you bump it to Pro, the Sliders are, in fact, changing even though the slider values displayed do NOT change?

This would be and interesting find if it's confirmed.

Yep. I agree. . .it would go very, very far to improve user experience/customization. I've referenced this issue/concern in a number of posts with no real nibbles . . .and I'm getting weary of testing all the different scenarios/permutations with the same two teams. Any suggestions. . .think one of the EA folks on-site might know/respond?

Just changed my level to all madden and my sliders went to 25. Changed my qba and it went to custom level same as last year unless I'm missing something? You can change Cpu sliders tho without the level changing but changing User switches level to custom

Forgot to mention that the first time I changed qba then went to the options screen the level was still on all madden. Went back to sliders and my qba was back at 25 so i increased it again then went back to options and now it was at custom level. Could just be a interface bug?

Re: Madden 13 Sliders : Difficulty

This is NCAA 13's Engine with the Physics added. So OP is correct. This year does not adjust sliders like previous years. There is a Base "Skill" levela and then sliders adjust it.

SECElites sliders had Run Block at Zero and it was "over powered" in tha t they were perfect. If you got outside and wited for your secondary block you would be gone.

The 1 step sliders may make a difference but in essence this is NCAA 13.

Previous years Madden and NCAA were totally different in that regard as mentioned by others. Skill level adjusted sliders by increments of 25, which implied we were playing either a boosted player rating or some other dynamic. This year, the sliders are once again worthless in so far as zero is not zero and 100 is not 100.

Penalties are the most telling example. Set Rough the passer to 55 and it is called practically every 3 plays. No Pass Interference, No Clipping. Set Facemask to 55 and see a ton ... Holding the same. False Start at 54, yep. Penalty.

Ah, but are you on Play Now or in Franchise/CCM? Digital Download or early release disc:

                        I'm using digital download, Franchise/CCM on PS3.

                        Under the "More..." tab.
                        Under League Settings:
Selected Skill Level : Rookie, then <circle> to exit
                        Moved to League Sliders:
All Values under "Generic Sliders" are 50.

Change them all to, say, 0 for both hum and cpu
                        <circle> to exit
                        Back to league settings:
Skill Level Remains Rooking (custom is not available)
                        Change Skill Level to Pro
                        <circle> to exit
Return to League Sliders...and they are all zero.

On the one hand, this could be the most exciting thing about this new madden. . .or, if it is a bug...the most heartbreaking.

Re: Madden 13 Sliders : Difficulty

Hmm. After setting up custom sliders on my Offline Dynasty, I decided to test regular skill levels. I set the Game Options to ALl-Pro. My Custom sliders remained. I then hit Reset to default on the sliders. They reset to 50/50. I then set the game options > SKill Level to higher and lower. The Sliders remained 50/50

Perhaps there is a baseline slider for a skill level, but once you set a custom slide it is borked? I'll test it now but starting offline career over.

Hmm...I'll need to dig into the NCAA stuff! So, then, are you indicating that a 25 Run Block setting while "all madden" is NOT the same as a 25 Run Block setting while on "Rookie"?

Play now season ticket 360, made the changes in game. Agree though if we could have all madden just mean smarter Ai as opposed to just lower human sliders that would be huge, ill check out some other modes in a few and see if anything changes
