    Roadman's Demo Sliders

My first attempt at a slider thread.

I owe a lot of credit and thanks to the slider guru's over on the NCAA side. There is too many to list, so, please, thank you to all that inspired me, including Redwolf and Lombardi from years gone by on the PC.

The catagories are a copy and paste from Fiddy, except for the values, so thank you to Fiddy.

By the way, I don't play for the challenge, I play for the sim experience. I want the Packers to beat the teams below them, be a challenge for a team that is equal or better than them.

Also, I use a lot of the pre-play adjustments on offense and defense. Offense, agressive blocking for running plays and pinch for pass plays. On defense, using the pre-plays is a chess match. If I'm not sure if it's run or pass, I'll use the LB shift to where the TE lines up and that's it. If I'm sure it's a pass, I'll choose pass, edge rush and because GB's DB's are good at bump n run, I'll choose bump and run. Even when the CPU offense is in hurry up, I can choose pass, edge rush and bump n run.

    Here goes.
    8/28/13- Update for retail game.

    Game Options
    Skill Level: Custom
Playcall Style: Your Choice. I use gameflow, it seems to be better choices this year.
Quarter Length: 8-9 Minutes (personal choice)
    Coaching Tips: Off
    Play Clock: On
Accelerated Clock: On (to get longer games in demo)
Minimum Play Clock Time: On 25 seconds
    Camera: Legacy
    Auto Strafe: On
    Heat Seeker: On
    Ball Hawk: On
    Switch Assist: On
    Injuries: 8
    Fatigue: 50
Game Speed: Normal for now (like to see the animations play out) (slow on toss/sweeps) Your choice.
Player Min Speed Threshold: 25 separates the speedsters vs the slow DT's.
    Coach Mode: Off
    ---
    Penalties
    Offside: 100
    False Start: 75
Holding: 40 Saw 1 holdg call last 2 games on 60
    Facemask: 35 (less WWA tackles)
    Defensive Pass Interference: 0
    Offensive Pass Interference:0
    KR/PR Interference: 50
Clipping: 54 (might see one or two a game)
Int Grounding: 75 (theory is QB will look to pass more)
Roughing The Passer: 54 (55 and you will have these called more often)
    Roughing The Kicker: 50
    ---
    Player Skill (Hum/Cpu)
    Passing
QB Accuracy: 15/15 (at 10, Rodgers threw like a girl to the left side. Helps reduce comp%)
Pass Blocking: 10/10 Love the better pass rush both CPU and AI have
    WR Catching: 45/45
    ---
    Rushing
Run Blocking: 25/30 Might up to 35 cpu
Fumbles: 50/50 (seeing a few fumbles, compared to 0 in NCAA)
    ---
    Pass Defense
Reaction Time: 70/70 (helps lower comp.%)
Interceptions: 30/30 (35 still saw Rodgers with too many int's)
Pass Coverage 70/70 (same as reaction time)

    Rush Defense
Tackling: 43/43 Allows for better run game.

    Comments welcome.

I don't like to stray too far from 50, but in some cases, you need to. The demo doesn't play well on default.

QBA may change and injuries, depends how it plays out. I know I won't go above 20 for QBA at this point.

Injuries at 15 were good for me. Changed to 5, too many even at 10. I might up to to 7 or 8 to find a happy meduim.

Thanks again for trying these out.

With INTs at 20 you get about 1-3 for both sides per game, depending on your throws.

        Road...

Plugged your sliders in and kept the penalties at default and lowered USER QBA to 5......MAGICAL. I also have PBL at 0 for both.

Had a sick game at Lambeau as the 'Hawks. GB took the lead after I threw an INT on a bubble screen. They were going for a two score lead near halftime and Sherman made a diving INT in the end zone with :45 seconds left.

Next play Harvin got a step on Shields and beat him for an 80yd. TD. Crosby knocks home a FG from 58 yards with 2:30 to go after I sacked Rogers for a 10 yard loss to put the Pack in front 10-7. Though for sure I forced a punt. The wind blew the FG good because it started out left of the left crossbar.

Seattle drove down to the GB 25 and I misread a coverage and Jennings had an easy INT to seal it.

Rogers was 13-17-131-1INT which maybe a little high but I feel like my playcalling led to some easy pass completions. Probably should have blitzed more too. Russell Wilson was 5-11-109-1TD-1INT

          Wow, what a game.

I tried user and cpu at 10 for QBA and Rodgers threw like a girl on a flat pass to the left, twice and I tried to bullet both times.

I'm going to try PBL at 0 and see what happens. It can't hurt.

Surprised Crosby nailed it, he was terrible last year and he's had a rough going at camp, too. lol

In addition, you know I play as the Packers, so, I keep it away from Sherman's side. Geez, the Seahawks with Sherman, Browner and Winfield. Incrediable.

Just tried with QBA at 17, just for grins. It wasn't bad, Rodgers hit 71% with 2 int's and Wilson hit 61% with one int.

            Re: Roadman's Demo Sliders

            Plugged in your sliders Road.

Game played great. Really nice base to work from....I am intersted to see how the retail build feels. As I love the demo.

I used gameflow and I played as the Packers.

I lost 17-10. Rodgers threw 2 picks....both my fault. The CPU disguises some of their zones very nicely on M25. I was baited into a pick on the Seahawks 35 on my opening drive. I looked to hit Cobb on deep curl in and the CB had short outside zone coverage while the Safety took the deep route...I drive to fit in a deep curl over the CB and under the FS and the CB went back on the pass as I released it.....was a beautiful CPU pick.

The other was bad luck as Finley got jacked up across the middle and the ball popped up in the air and into a Seahawks lap.

Lynch ran strong on me...a few runs he made some beautiful side step jukes to turn nothing into 4 yards.

I find the key to getting good competitive games from the CPU is use the no switch rule and the player ratings really play out. trust your corners and containment on running plays.....also on passing plays I do not switch to the DB....and I must say the CPU is doing a decent job for me.

I also can sense that less is more with this years sliders. They took out some....but I have a sneaking suspicion it fixed what was broken last year. The sliders really work great on the demo.

This is going to be an easy game to tweak this year.

Can't gush enough at how much fun M25 has been....and this is just a bar bones demo. Connected Franchise is going to rock!!!!!

              Re: Roadman's Demo Sliders

I tried PBL at 0 for cpu and user and there were no sacks on either, side. Weird.

At 25 PBL, there were sacks on both sides.

I'll leave it at 25 for now as that is a head scratcher to me. It was only 1 game, though.

Heard that the demo was an older build, so, maybe some things are tweaked, like pass rushing.

Strange indeed. While I was able to generate pressure on Rogers, we should be able to get a better idea of what's going on when we can see replays.

                  Re: Roadman's Demo Sliders

I like these quite a bit. When the pocket collapses, the AI QB was realistically shuffling around and throwing inaccurate passes. When the pocket was preserved, the AI QB was making nice, accurate throws. The problem is that the pocket wasn't collapsing enough. Need to figure out a way to generate at least more push by the D-linemen. The issue with this however, is that more push will result in more sacks which I don't necessarily want. The QB tends to hold on to the ball far too long.

The running game is great. Zone coverage seems pretty weak still. Too many players just standing in their zone and reacting to throws rather then proactively covering receivers that jump in their zones. This allowed far too many easy 10 yard passes over the middle.

Some of the "legacy" quirks still exist which piss me off. The worst is when you throw a screen pass and the receiver runs back toward you (WTF???) to catch it, resulting in a big loss because the D line who collapse on you turn around and gang beat him. I hate hate hate this. The other is on a crossing route where the catch animation takes him out of bounds instead of stopping and running up field. Also, receivers don't attack the ball on fade passes (DB's do though which is nice).

My fears are coming to light regarding option runs a bit more, as I think they will be cheese this year. I might have to house rule it and limit it to only a few times ran a game.

I just played a half of 9ers/Ravens... I was up 13-7 going into the break...

Playing with your sliders really make this game amazing! I used Gameflow for the first time and holy **** I'm sold!! I managed to get a sack with the Ravens D and I had pressure on Colin almost every snap, it was golden! Kap was 1-5 for 3 yards with an INT, Gore had 5 carries for 21 yards... I pretty much controlled the 1st half.

Thanks so much for these sliders!

                        Re: Roadman's Demo Sliders

That's a very good question and to give an honest answer, it will be very spotty.

The reason is I will only have the game two days and our son will be heading off to college with the Slim 360. Coming home probably when laundry piles up and breaks.

In fairness to the other slider makers, I won't start another thread and just use this one.

Thanks you to everyone that is using these as a base and good luck with the retail Madden.

I owe a special gratitude to the NCAA slider makers. Many thoughts and theories from these came from there.

                          These sliders feel very good.

And yet I am up 28-0 on the Ravens at half.

Is it just that happen to be reading everything perfectly this one game?
