Madden 2003 on PS2
I own an XBox (along with Madden 04-06) and had never played a PS2 until recently when my brother loaned me his so I could try out MLB 06: TS. Well, among the games loaned to me was Madden 2003. I had read on here a lot of people thought that Madden 03 was one of the better in the series, so I threw it in. Wow, I was amazed. First off, the graphics look so much nicer on the PS2 than on my XBox. The grass/field looked beautiful, the player models look more like football players than in 05-06, and the game played great. I played a quick game between the 'Skins-Bucs(me). I lost 12-7 on 5 minute quarters, but I didn't touch any sliders (except penalty sliders) and the game played great. There are a lot of animations in this game that were taken out in 04-06. Anyway, I was impressed, ran out to EB and picked up a copy for my XBox. When I popped it in, however, I was dissapointed. The colors are all washed out, basically, like 04-06. The game seems to play well, but after seeing the PS2 version it's ugly. It got me wondering. Is there anything I can do in my XBox setup that will change the colors, i.e. make them look more like the PS2? Probably not, but just thought I would ask."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: Madden 2003 on PS2
I have continued to play Madden 03 on the PS2 and am really impressed. Honestly, without touching sliders at all I am getting games that feel right. Teams that should be able to run can run, great defenses are great, etc. I really wish they had built on this gameplay. It honestly feels a lot like 2k4 to me. Just wish the XBox version looked as good (the faces in Madden 03 are so much better than Madden 04-06. I can tell who each player is). I have also noticed that the PS2 version seems to play a little better than the XBox version.Originally posted by SportsforeverI own an XBox (along with Madden 04-06) and had never played a PS2 until recently when my brother loaned me his so I could try out MLB 06: TS. Madden 2003 was the year that Faulk was on the cover right? I do remember liking it much more than Madden 2002 (Culpepper), but I didn't know it held up that well after all these years. I'll have to dig it up and try it again.Comment

2003 was the best Madden of last gen, 02,05,06 were really bad. 2001 will always have a special place in my gaming collection.Originally posted by GilateenI agree."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Looks like I'll be headed to EB or someplace to find myself a copy of '03. I got '02 from a friend of mine and tried to do some coaching. The passing game was okay but the run game...atrocious.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment

Re: Madden 2003 on PS2
Madden 2003 took all the good elements out of 2001 and 2002 and brought them together. The run game was terribly unbalanced in 2002 (way too easy outside) and everything seemed to be very good. You appreciated 2003 more as you played it.
That was the last game of Madden I really enjoyed. I don't know exactly why I haven't liked the recent versions very much but the 2K series starting in 2K4 really showed some of the weaknesses of the Madden engine. Everything about Madden was more polished along with many other positives (franchise for one) but the player interaction was so bad compared to 2K4/2K5 along with terrible presentation that Madden just didn't seem so fun anymore.Comment

For $2 or $3 its not bad but I have a hard time going back and playing any old game once you get used to the improvements future versions have. Its all relative so don't get your hopes up too high.Originally posted by NoleFanEB has it in stock and will hold it until I get off of work. It's only 2-3 bucks. I hope it's worth it.

I coach so a great many of the improvements that are made over the years don't really hinder my enjoyment. Coaching makes it all the more possible to go back and try an old game that I couldn't get into when I was still playing the game manually.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Really good game!!!!!!! What happened to all of these features in later maddens? Coaching with the DEMO CAM is nice. What happened to that...the DEMO CAM? This game pretty much has it all. It takes a little work to get that running game going but it can be done and it's realistic. Who needs new games every year?

Madden 03 is by far the best in the series. I started playing again last year and regret even getting 04 and 05. Between that and MVP 05 I will never by another baseball or football game.
The franchise is great, injury engine is perfect, simulation engine is perfect when you compare the last few years.
Out of the box on All-Pro default it's by far the best.be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter.Comment
