Commentary in Madden 08
So far from what I've seen/heard it will be the same "radio" commentator as last year. Anyone have information about this? I know that the last few years with Madden commentating himself got pretty bad, but even if they are still afraid of offending him by using other real life commentators, surely they could bring in some voice actors like 2k did.Tags: None -

I have yet to see any videos where he wasn't in the game.
Oh well, maybe next year.
I hate him too.
What a stupid homer. -

The worst part of Madden next-gen by far IMO is the radio announcer. I pray this is the last year with him in the game. It's just terrible.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

I just wish they put Madden and Al Michaels back in, even if it was the same commentary from last gen... though with an option to switch between them and the radio announcerRIP Sean Taylor. Still my idol!Comment

I like the radio announcer, but it would be so much better if they had a two man radio booth.Comment

Re: Commentary in Madden 08
The Radio Guy has grown on me...
I've been playing Madden'07 on the PS2 to pass the time and listening to Madden & Michaels has made me appreciate the Radio Guy a bit more than before...
Why?
Well the Radio Guy has intangibles that both Madden & Michaels lack...Intangibles such as passion, excitement, and personality in his commentary...
When there's a big play he screams and yells, when you make a mistake you hear the dissappointement in his voice, and when the pressure is on his tone of voice matches the situation...I like that he's biased towards my team because it makes me feel like he gives a damn about the game; as opposed to Madden & Michaels who sound totally disconnected from the game and only mildly interested in what's happening on the field...
I welcome the change because it brings more flavor to the broadcast booth, all I ask is that they get him a partner(s) next year

Does Madden not being in the game have something to do with him working for NBC and EA having the rights to ESPN, who is owned by ABC? I doubt ABC would like someone from a rival network voicing their games. Which is also why I doubt it will called "Madden NFL Football" much longer.Comment

Hmmm that may just be it .. I don't know why they haven't told us if that's the case though. But I see next year having him back or the NFL network guysDoes Madden not being in the game have something to do with him working for NBC and EA having the rights to ESPN, who is owned by ABC? An option to switch would be nice for those who wish they still had Madden and Michaels. For me, I love the radio announcer. It's so damn cool that he's a homer, too. I love that!
Madden working for NBC has nothing to do with that. I think it's more coincidence than anything else, but ABC would have no say so in the matter, I'm sure of it. The day these promotional partners can start dictating game content is likely the day I stop gaming. Those types of decisions should only be up to the company actually MAKING the game.Does Madden not being in the game have something to do with him working for NBC and EA having the rights to ESPN, who is owned by ABC? As I've said in the last three to four of these threads, I feel that they're trying to move away from Madden as a commentator. I'd say that in 09 or 10, you'll see a new broadcast booth with new people and no Madden. I think it's EA's way of moving Madden out of the game and keeping him around in name only.Comment

I've loved Madden through day 1. Thick and thin. You complained about him and now hate the radio guy. Never bite the hand that feeds you.
I miss you John Madden

Why would they do that though? He's been in for so long only to suddenly get taken out of the game? Did people really hate him that much? ( Actually some times .. I would , you know, swear at him and call him a fata** when he would talk bad about my team in current gen .. but I do miss the discussions between the play, it really added to the game ..As I've said in the last three to four of these threads, I feel that they're trying to move away from Madden as a commentator.
