what is the point of the players on the bottom that you can scroll through with the LB and RB button? Does it affect anything or just let you know what is out there for that team? I couldn't find an answer in the manual or in the first 10 pages of the forum.

I believe all it does it show the different weapons for each team. What's confusing me however,is if a player has more than 1 weapon assigned to him,how do you get this reflected in the game. (I hope that made sense lol)

yea ive been wonderin that too the game should let u pick which weapon u want that player to be in each game but somebody told me that its based on what their doing in the game and also depending on what down it is like for instance chad johnson has like 5 weapons. he will prob be a possesion receiver on a crucial situation in this game or watever but im not sure it could be a way to choose the weapon of the player

The weapons but smart player are just based on the ratings. Drop Favre arm power below 90 for example and he loses his cannon arm. So Johnson doesn't have to pick a weapon as he always has all of them. I have no idea what smart player is based on however.

yea we understand how a player gets a weapon, our problem is picking which weapon we want a player, who has multiple weapons, to have in a game

That's the best explanation I've heard lol....so I'll go with that until I hear otherwise.
I just wish there was some sort of explanation of the uses of multiple weaponed players,and WHEN those extra weapons come into play.
But.......like I said,yours is the best explanation so far,so that very well may be it.

Weapons depend on what the player is doing. For example, if a WR has "Quick Receiver", "Possession Receiver" and "Spectacular Catch", the only thing that affects you as the player is the spectacular catch weapon, because you can press "Y" to use it. The other 2 weapons are just happen naturally in the game.

if you had a CB with a bunch of weapons, like "Shutdown Corner", "Smart Corner", "Press Coverage" and "Big Hitter", the only thing you can actually 'do' there is the Smart Corner, by pressing X prior to the snap. The other weapons happen naturally during the course of a game. Of course, you can take advantage of the press coverage weapon by using the press coverage alignment.

To answer the original question, the numbers on the team select screen just show the # of weapons each team has. You don't 'do' anything here, it's just to let you know.

Weapons like "Power Back" just means your HB should be trying to run people over, not run around them. You don't do anything in the game to 'use' this weapon. But, you should be using more shoulder charges and stiffarms, and less jukes and hurdles.

A player that has multiple weapons is always all of his weapons. For example, Peyton Manning is a smart qb, cannon arm, and accurate qb. The smart icon shows up, but he still has his cannon arm and accuracy. There is no selection. They have all their weapons at their disposal at all times. Another example is a big foot and accurate kicker. No matter which icon is showing, they are still accurate and have plenty of power.

yea but its different for qbs who have the accurate weapon as their icon but they are also smart qbs as well they won't read the teams plays inless you press x prior to the snap and im guessing that would make him a smart qb and he will still have his accurate weapon as well, for instance drew brees

He's a smart corner regardless of what icon displays. I think the icon that's used in-game is whichever attribute is highest. I'm not sure what stat makes him a 'shutdown' corner, but it's higher than whatever stat makes him a 'smart' corner. Anyway, you can press X while you have him selected, and see the offense's play. I think this only works when his lightbulb icon is full, though. Since I use the Browns, none of my players have the 'smart' weapon =)

i don't believe so, for the same reasons i mentioned above

from what i've seen, the lightbulb icon needs to be fully yellow for the X button to bring up the offense's playart. if the offense runs many different plays, it takes longer to fill up. however, if they run the same play a bunch of times in a row, it fills up quicker because the CB is 'recognizing' the play. After he's seen it a bunch of times, his lightbulb fills up and you can press X to see the play. I believe the QB works the same way. If the D just calls Cover 2 Man all game, the QB's lightbulb will fill up quick, and you can press X to see the defense's playart.

It doesn't matter what icon is showing. I think it just shows whichever is more dominant. For example, if a WR has 90 hands and 98 speed ratings, he'd have Hands and Speed as weapons, but the Speed icon would show since it's more dominant.

thanks for the explanation but one thing thoe pressing X just audibiles your plays, i believe u have to hold down RT then press LB and that reads the play well at least thats how it works for qb's and safeties

and one other thing how can u tell when the light bulb is filled when their is no light bulb icon under Al harris )or any other player who has multiple weapons, including the Smart Weapon in which the smart is not the default or highest) it has the shut down icon under him? can i tell by the thing that surrounds the weapon like when the outside of that fills all the way yellow or wat?
