Play-action problems

Just about every time I run a play-action pass play, I rarely even get a chance to even attempt to throw the ball before I am sacked. No joke, it's like fake-handoff oh @#$%---SACK.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is it because I play with the crappy Falcons?

I have no problem with the play action. I actully love it this year. It also helps if you have a good OLine and RB. Oh and if the D isn't blitzing.

When is it happening? Versus the CPU? Humans? Online or offline?

vs. cpu. It is on "my skill" (which is in between all-pro and all-madden). Alot of times the D-line just puts one move on my OL and then i'm dead. I guess it's just the Falcons o-line.

What is your yards per carry average? If you're gaining minimal amounts of yardage on the ground, a PA won't fool anybody. If you're chewing up yardage and using it in run situations, you can nail some huge throws.

So make sure you're not running a PA on 3rd and long, or even attempting one early in a game before you've really established a run. If you do that, you'll get killed.

I'm not trying to be a smart a** here but, do you think the Madden AI is good enough to recognize this?

I had this problem last year - most times when I called a playaction pass, the defense was already in the backfield before I was even able to control the QB.

There's a brief time period after the snap on playaction plays where the CPU controls your QB during the fake-handoff animation. The problem is the Defense seems to pour through the line at the same time, EVERY TIME, and sack the QB before he even gets his passing icons up...

Unless they are playing a Zone or Prevent Defense, you get sacked.

So, I stopped using playaction altogether.

After playing 2 seasons worth and being crushed on PA early on...yes.

I have been able to really hit some solid PA rollouts and all manner of passes, but only once I've hit some big runs. This was last night after I had established a 4.0ypc and was in a rushing situation (deep in my end zone, double tight formation).

I've been playing the game since Friday...trust me...it does.

If you want to pretend it does then that's on you. I've had the game since Friday myself. It all depends on the defense and what playaction you're calling. On some playactions against certain blitzes, you'll get sacked everytime.

But the CPU won't be calling all out blitzes if you're chewing up yardage on the ground. Any play in the game can be blown up by another play, but the defensive counters aren't called by the CPU if there's a large possibility of you gaining 35 yards from a dive play because they're coming off the edge.

Just judging by the tone of your posts, it doesn't make any sense to argue it with you. But there's more to it than "they just don't work, the AI doesn't recognize anything LMAO", etc.

I'm fairly certain if you were to ask Ian about this he would admit that it doesn't work as well as they want it to.

Fact is PA in this game is farrrrr more risky than it is in real life. The OLine just totally breaks down most of the time. And call me skeptical but I really doubt that your running game has much if any effect on it because I run the ball fine and this is the same company that can't get field degredation or CPU sliders to work. Not bashing, just stating.

I really don't know why anyone would say "it's fine" or whatever, because there is obviously a huge risk of running PA in this game compared to real life. Sometimes it works fine, other times it's complete BS. When 1/3 of the time you have 3 or 4 defenders within 2 yards of you when you turn around to look at your receivers, it's certainly not perfect.

It is pointless to argue with me on this but I never said they don't work. Both of you are giving the AI way too much credit. Like I said if you want to pretend the AI recognizes to not run blitzes off the edge so that they don't get burned with dives then that's on you. It is much simpler then that.
