MLB 08 the Show vs. Madden 09

This is for those who played the Show and now have Madden. I'll start off by saying the Show was the best sports game I have played in a very long time. I want to know your guys opinion on something. Do you think that Madden would be better if they used the things that made the Show so great? In my opinion, if Madden focused as much attention on the little things as the Show did, Madden would be so much more awesome.

The Show had funny and fresh commentary. I can't even compare Matt Vasgersian to Tom Hammond. Chris Collinsworth is great as was Rex Hudler (most of the time lol)

I also enjoyed the many player specific animations. This year's Madden has done a great job and I hope next year, EA adds more player specific celebrations.

I felt that The Show did very well with player faces. Even non-superstars looked like themselves. Madden 09's graphics are very good, but I think they could improve on this.

The crowd in the Show is what I want in Madden. It had dynamic crowd attendence, they were 3D, chanted team specific stuff, beach balls lol. If Madden did this, people like myself who want more atmosphere and presentation would be more than happy.

I think one of the coolest things about the Show was the CAP. If you took the time, you could make a CAP that looked like Kosuke Fukudome. I loved this, not having to choose some generic faces. I think Madden fans would love getting to make an Adam Jones. Or better yet, put themselves into the game and go through Superstar mode.

EA has done a very good job with Madden this year. A step in the right direction for the next gen. consoles. I'm hoping next year they improve upon these things. Sorry for the long post, would love to hear your guys opinions on this.

I think the Show is way overrated but still a great game.

Madden definately needs to look at how they did the player models and lighting though. The lighting is the best I've seen and actually looks like daylight.

This is really the only thing Madden is missing for me. It truly is getting there though.

I think next year, if they really focus on cleaning up the core presentation it could be the best football game I've played in a long time.

The Show is still the better game though. Much, much better. Madden is certainly headed in the right direction.

NCAA however... ugh.

If Madden ever has presentation, crowd, atmosphere as good as The Show I don't know what I'd do. Jump off the cliff of happiness I guess.

The Show had a lot of little details, and that's where Madden (and most other sports games) fail. People always complain about a lack of chain gangs, refs, etc. and none of these things affect gameplay. But they add atmosphere, which is key for the most realistic experience possible.

Easy one: the show is much better

1. because baseball is my #1-sport

2. the show is by no means a perfect game, but their gameplay is very close of being 100%, unlike madden. EA still has too many problems with robo qb and lacks of details (like Refs, chain gang, good commentators, crowd atmosphere etc.)

From what I know, Madden is on the right way, 2010 could be the first time in forever that Madden can clearly "outplay" NFL 2k5

the show > sports games right now...I would actually buy a ps3 just to play MLB and I'm not the biggest fan of baseball
