I am starting up the second season of my franchise and I really didn't get anything to speak of in the first season. I would get the little ones that would last a quarter or two but nothing major for even a couple of games. There are quite a few on IR on other teams but not mine.

In game injuries for extended periods of times are extremely rare, although sim injuries seem to be more normalized. I actually don't know why this is. Although I was playing the Titans online last night and Keith Bullick was out for 5 weeks and his backup got injured the very next play and was out for 8 weeks.
Playing sim is a disadvantage? I beg to differ:

Just adjust the injury ratings if you find there are too many/few injuries to your liking. Check out some of the sliders, they have some injury ratings they use that end up being pretty realistic. And besides, its fun (never fun in real life) when someone gets injuried and you try to find someone to replace him. I think it provides more challenge to the game and shows your GM/coaching skills to keep the play of that individual from falling off when a replacement comes in.

It isn't the NUMBER of injuries that is the issue, it is the LENGTH of injuries. I played about 25 games, and I don't believe I ever saw a single injury extend beyond the current game....most were some minor rib, chest or stomach injury that last at most 2 quarters.

I've had a RB out with a 10 week injury once.

Other than that...it's pretty much a few plays to qrt length injuries.

I actually had my RG go down for 6 weeks. First time I have EVER had an OL injured, and also the first time I have had a long term in game injury.

I would like to see a few more, but I suppose it's acceptable.

You could always institute a house rule and if one of your guys goes down keep him out for a week or two. Call it a nagging injury like a hamstring or groin pull.

no injuries after 2 full season with the chiefs or 1 1/2 with the jets in two different franchises, really makes me **** upset, will try to sign the worst training staff next season to see if this helps.
How do u have a football game with no "real" injuries its like order chicken and broccoli and getting a one two inch square of chicken. WFD!!

Re: Are there in game injures that last?

I've been editing rosters over the past week, mostly for fun and to experiment. This is what I did..

I went through every player on the Lions team, and set all their relevant stats to ZERO. Speed, Acceleration etc. I also set injuries to ZERO for all the players. They are now all very slow, weak, cant block, cant catch, cant throw etc.

Now, I did the exact opposite for the Buccaneers (dont ask why, random teams :P). They are now ALL fast, strong, excellent blockers, very powerful hitters.

I decided to play a game against the Lions with them. 5 minute quarters, clear day. I kicked to Lions. Injured someone right away, "will return soon". I only picked one defensive play for the whole game, 7 man blitz with man coverage. Sacked Culpepper, injured his leg, "will return soon". Orlovsky came in, same happened to him. Culpepper returned, sacked, bruised shoulder, "will return soon". This repeated itself for the quarterbacks, running backs, and kick returners on nearly every second play.

Over the course of this game I picked up 36 sacks, 12 interceptions, 28 forced fumbles. There were roughly 30 to 40 injuries during the game, and not one of them was any worse than a "will return soon".

After the game I simmed through a 5 min quarter game with same teams, and the lions lost 8 players to injuries of 8 or more weeks. It seems as though injuries are worse simming than playing.

On the bright side, it's a great fun after a hard day at college!

I've posted this before but in franchise mode at the end of my first season, I lost both my starting and backup QB for 10 weeks with different injuries in Week 17. Had to go into the playoffs with a guy I signed out of the free agent pool (Byron Leftwich...this was before Pittsburgh signed him in real life).

In my newest Titans franchise I've had Carr go out for 5 weeks and Kerry Collins is gone for the season (caught a diving tackle in the back of the legs which tore up his knee).

I've also had a couple players go out for a week or a full game.
