Wow... 3 in one year... how often does that happen?

Well said Adem.

I imagine most of us have wondered about the..."What if's" And I believe your so right about human nature. Those that have been the most ardent supporters may be the first to be throwing rocks if their personal expectations aren't met. The Madden boards are very volatile, and have a high flash point.

I don't envy Ian whatsoever. Each word he posts, is scrutinized. And one slip up..or misunderstanding, is a potential meltdown. Ian's a brave man to walk through the minefield known as OS.

Not that often but its close to every 2-3 years then it stops for about 10 years and returns to the 2-3 year pattern. It repeats every 28 years.

absolutely. look at the show 07 was its first next gen release and got a mulligan to work out the kinks on the ps3. the show 08 was a fantastic game, one of the better sports games to date. and now 09 the show is unreal. its nearly flawless, and has a live online draft for oline leagues, fixed all the bugs... its everything a sports gamer could want.

so in just 3 years, they nailed it. and improved from 1 year to another,... madden got its mulligan with 07, then another mulligan in 08, then a slight upgrade but still a poor product with 09.

there is absolutely no reason why 1 year isnt enough to implement all the stuff mentioned around here.... and 4 years is certainly enough to get the next gen game as good as the cg game was

Re: Low Expectations? Why?

My expectations are clearly LOW...I'm an early adopter...meaning I've been playing Next Gen Madden from day one...Each and every year the game IMO has not come close to living up to my expectations...Consoles are as powerful as we have ever seen, Online connectivity and interactivity is at an all time high...Yet Madden has somewhat floundered and barely been what one could consider a true next gen game.

next Gen graphics..YES...Next Gen gameplay, presentation, online play...Not even close. My low expectations hinge on my acceptance that Madden 09 is not even a bad game and moreover its likely the best Madden of all yet it still lacks so much.

Low expectations???...For me YES...Optimism and hope that Madden will finally pull outta the slump???...Hell Yes!!!

Sorry, you are stretching it here. That's your opinion and assumption. Everything but the kitchen sink won't be in 10.

Ian stated around Super Bowl time that Everything on Sunday, you will see in Madden, now and in the future. Not just 10 and one development cycle.

Re: Low Expectations? Why?

I know when I come to these boards I sure don't get the sense that people have low expectations.

From the countless "Ian, can you address [insert feature name]!!!!" threads, to the thousands of posts in the wishlists, to the hundreds of comments on each of our blogs, I definitely don't get any impression that our community is going to be cool with a sub-par game. I have even received like 10+ real snail mail letters full of suggestions and complaints. So with those + the threads + the PM's + everything else...I can definitely be honest and say I haven't read anything that said:

Dear Ian,
Congratulations on your job as lead designer! I know it's hard taking over a game with such a deep history and a loyal (+ vocal) fan base. But just make sure to have fun this year, because it's really no big deal if the game sucks.

Sincerely,
Little Johnny
