In high school my team ran a 3-4 defense similar to that of many NFL teams.They need to fix the 3-4 philosophy in franchise mode or program it differently my NT or 3-4 DE should not have 13 sacks,The primary function of the D-Line is to protect the LBs and play the run. Each defensive lineman is responsible for 2 gaps.There progression in franchise mode should be just like roster updates based of team run defensive ranking.Every franchise i should not have to put my 3-4 outside backers at end to up there sack total. Guys like Ware, Harrison, and Merriman are all on pace for at least 100 sacks,not in madden in my cowboys franchise i would be happy to see ware with 4 and thats sad."3-4 OLBs are the playmakers of the D. They get the glory of picking up sacks on the QB. They must have strong pass rushing skills". Maybe Fmv and Pmv should account for sacks along with Acc.

Many others have also recognized this problem. The developers are supposedly addressing this issue for Madden '10

Defensive schemes and assignments are broken in both EA football games. There is no nose tackle.

hopfully that changes with this years game considering Haynesworth bringing back the importance of having a monster in the middle not just to get sacks but mostly cause problems.

Not all 3-4 use a 2 Gap system, a 1 gap system is very popular by a superbowl winning team

The problem is that you cannot use a 2 gap system in this game. They need to add true double team logic on the OL and change the way the DL attacks the line in the 3-4 scheme.

Zone blitzing plays should have different gap assignments than normal 2 gap 3-4 plays.

3-4 and 4-3 in MADDEN are the same aside from the extra LB. The 3-4 in the madden series is just a variation of the 4-3. They do NOT react or play out as they should.

i use balanced playbook and use both simply due to the fact they are really not different at all. Actually, i use Nickel about 80% of the time.

hOPE THEY MAKE SOME serious CHANGES.

Nearly all teams use both the 1 gap or 2 gap system it all depends on the play.

I was under the impression that the Dick Lebeau 3-4 is very different to the Parcells/billicheck due to gap assignments on most plays

"Very" is a relative word. I would wager that the LeBeau system is closer to the Parcells system than it is to a typical 4-3. I imagine that it is the middle ground between the two, but that is a guess...

* Ian Cummings has indicated that blocking and general OL/DL interaction is a priority this year. Strong possibility of seeing the branching animation system will be expanded to include line moves. From your thread

Are they fixing 3-4 OLB conversion guys from DE to OLB?A DE in the draft should have something next to his name that says 3-4 OLB prospect. Like the Vernon Gholstons and the Brian Orakpos.

I'm sick of drafting 240lb 4-3 linebackers and plugging them in a 3-4 defense, it isn't right.
