Why does the NFL have restrictions on Madden?

I know they used to have tattoos in the PS2 Maddens-they might still. It bothers me that the NFL puts such restrictions on the game now. In one of the videos I think it was Ian that said "every player on the field is someone's favorite" and that's why they're going for "unprecedented authenticity." Well, Shawn Merriman (as only one example-the first one that I thought of) fans get the short end of the stick because his video game counterpart will NEVER accurately represent him, and the only thing holding EA back from making those players accurate is the INSTITUTION THEY ARE MAKING A REPRESENTATION OF!

I kind of wish that we could make a petition to the NFL to get them to be less strict where these things are concerned. Anyone know the contact information ?

I think I need to go to bed man, I just realized you hadn't quoted me. For some reason I read it and could've sworn it was what I had just wrote... I think my eyes are the thugs and are trying to scam me into something tonight.

The reason you have these restrictions is because from the NFL's point of view, Madden is nothing more than an advertisement and they want their advertisements to highlight only the best parts of the NFL. Its why you dont see late hits and other fineable offenses. The NFL likes to pretend these don't exist.
