The possible flow on effect on imported draft classes from NCAA ratings changes

I noticed in this blog post from the NCAA guys, that they (like the Madden team) are stretching out the ratings this year.

From the blog:

• "Recruits will not come in as highly rated. Overall all recruits have been lowered in how high their Overall rating will be when they are created.

• Not as many "elite" recruits. Instead of the majority of recruits starting out at 80+ there will only be a handful."

I was thinking that with 'Recruits' in NCAA being scaled downward and Josh and Donny working on making sure NCAA draft classes don't come in with too many elite players, that it is possible after ten years of franchise and draft classes, we might end up with very few elite players overall.

I just wanted to flag this 'double downgrade' as something the Dev team should look into - it would be a shame to have your franchise degrade to the point where there are no elite players because you continue to import draft classes.

I would think Ian and crew has already thought of this. If not then they don't need to be working on this. LOL But really I am sure Ian and his crew know what they are doing. I would not worry to much about it.

did NCAA add all the extra ratings Madden did? I'm just wondering how they'll come up with those missing ratings if they got nothing to base it off of from the draft classes imported from NCAA.

*There are few "elite" players entering the draft each year. The consensus "safest elite player in the draft" was an outside linebacker from Wake Forest*. The NFL has become a league of specialization for the most part, and I think the most success is found in players that are playing in the right schemes to fit their skillset. Of course some players would be good (at worst), in ANY system, but how often are these players chosen in the first 5 picks (a commonly accepted "elite" range)?

*Personally, I'd much rather see some sort of correlation involving NCAA imports from teams that ran spread offenses in college, so that these players wouldn't be ranked highly in Madden. (The more success a team has in NCAA, the better those players are ranked when imported...of course quite a few teams running the spread offense in NCAA do well. This means alot of skill position players from these schools are ranked highly, whereas in real life they go undrafted, or have to change positions in the NFL.

Yeah a player like Graham Harrell would be rated in the 90s in NCAA but in Madden should be rated in the 50s or low 60s at most.

Which I believe he is...this is a most excellent idea, but I don't know how Madden can account for the systems of college teams, since they are standalone games...if Madden could say "Okay, Penn State is a spread offense, knock the offensive players down X points" then that would 1. piss off Penn State fans, 2. work that problem out, until someone plays as Penn State in NCAA, turns the offensive scheme into a pro-style offense, and then the players come out with REALLY bad overalls even though they produced well in a pro-style...it'd be like penalizing Mark Sanchez's overall if USC was once a triple-option offense...
