I've Figured out Madden 09's Gameplay Problem

I have come to realize that its not the game speed problem but the speed of the ball when thrown is TOO SLOW. Thats why the defense can jump the ball from a mile away...

If you could bump up the ball speed it woud play for a more realistic game..

      Wasn't there a blog/article that it's traveling at 90 miles/hr on every throw?

I don't think you can condense the game play in '09 in a one single problem.

the ball does get there too fast, i remember reading one of the blogs where it said that all bullets were going like 76 mph in madden (including chad pennington); the fastest in real life goes like 75 or something and that is someone with an absolute cannon.

what the problem is unrealistic burst to the ball from a dead stop or in other words agility/acceleration

EDIT: it might have been 90 or something like that idk

I think he is talking about the lob pass. Trying lobbing a ball into the middle of the field, by the time the ball gets there there will be 6 defenders there. But that's what a lob pass is I guess, it should just fit better into different situations.

I was just about to tell you that that's what a lob pass is.

One of the blogs listed in the Madden Updates sticky Thread talks about the problems and what is being done to fix it.

The ball is thrown too slow? It is definitely being thrown too fast as documented by Ian Cummings.

If anything the reaction by the defenses is too fast and couple that with the ability for every play to turn 180 degrees on a dime you have a recipe for disaster.

The gameplay problem with 09 is more than one problem:

                          • Poor blocking/logic (when the user is on offense).
                          • No touch passes (for the most part and IF you get one, you're shocked).
                          • Defense is broken (Man-to-man is useless, Zone is pretty over powered).
                          • Defenders make unrealistic plays on the ball (this is usually a LB or DB swatting a pass they have no business making a play on, or they're just not looking).
                          • The game plays far too fast (this could be somewhat fixed by lowering player speeds drastically, though it takes A LOT of work).
                          • Lack of a pass rush for the user, which is funny because the CPU has no problem getting to you when you're on offense.

...And to think that's only the beginning.
