    The Video Threads (Please Read)

    Hey everyone,

I really didn't want to have to address this, but it seems like it is time.

The video threads end. Now. If you make a short clip of a glitch, or a short video of something you like, good. Post it in an impressions thread, or wherever it needs to go. No more 5-10 minute video threads with your commentary on the world and your views on Madden.

You want your voice heard? Type it out.

It started with one guy, and it was okay. Now it's getting to the point where anybody with a webcam or camcorder is just throwing videos up and posting them here. It's not doing anything but cluttering the forums, and every time they are posted it turns into a 20 page battle of "The video is right" and "no, the video is crap".

Well, as of now, it's done. I don't want to have to turn of HTML in the forums, but I will if necessary (Yeah, I can stop embedding of videos).

I'm asking that you guys do this in order to keep this place cleaner. You can criticize or praise Madden all you want, but the video threads are becoming too much as of late, unfortunately.

    Thanks

You call a post with a video embedded in it clutter, yet if I were to type out a big long paragraph explaining a glitch, it would take up the same amount of space as it would to show people what you are talking about. So either way someone chooses to express something, it is going to take up identical space. So............

You put it in the impressions thread, not it's own thread like the videos have been coming up the last week.

Fair enough. Once we are passed this demo phase and the finished product is in everyone's hands, the demo thread should be locked away, and in it's place, a Video Thread should be opened. All vids and vid discussions/debated could go there.

Discussion of the game, development, and for users to be able to gather the most information on the upcoming game.

Guys, I know you are getting technical, but everyone sees what has been happening to this forum. A video gets posted, and it becomes a bloodsport in the thread. That's not how OS works, and until things calm down, I'm stopping the cause.

Thanks Mill! It was getting out of hand. I also think they're should be some kind of overall rating before you can start a thread. Most of the ones started are by people that have 1 - 10 posts, and the thread is usually about something already being talked about. But, hey who I am.

                Anyway, great stuff.

i agree, dont really want to bash the mods too much but lately they close a lot of topics way too fast. Sometimes there will be a discussion going on in the topic, even if its not what the original topic is and they close it and say its run its course. So many threads closed that its like what can you actually make a thread about that wont be closed and have you get told to put that in another thread. I do agree with this mod that the video threads are becomming a bit much, maybe have a video impressions thread so those that want to do those apex type vids can put them there.

sorry, just had to get that off my chest, i dont really bash much on these boards but i had just been noticing that a lot lately, in the NCAA boards as well.

Personally I think if someone doesn't like the rules than they should post on a different site. It's there site and they can run it anyway they want to. If you don't like well...

The impressions thread is way too long to sort through.

Sometimes a certain topic needs to be discussed or viewed. The essence of a forum is about impressions of a subject. I would agree with a video ban if the material was not useful (like the spoof videos). But so far the video's have been very useful and informative.

Or at least have a video thread section. You can't get anymore ordered and tidy than that.

thats what i mean, people like to post so that other people actually see what they're posting and maybe they can get a response to it. Nobody likes to just post so that it disappears in the other thousand posts. So just closing every topic and directing everything to an impressions thread, or glitch thread makes a lot of people's posts and thoughts get lost in all the other posts. I understand when people make duplicate threads or stupid threads that are pointless. And people aren't going to backread 50 pages of posts. Just sayin...

That's fine with me. In regards to the impressions thread, I agree that there really needs to be either a video sub thread or something.

Threads get to a point where they are a massive wall of text that is too much.

Again, in my opinion I think there should be other threads talking about various sub topics.

                          Demo Impressions: Presentation
                          Demo Impressions: Game Play

That alone would help. I am not going to tell you all how to run your forum, but I am also part of non-sports forums that are run a lot smother in regards to the depth of threads and topics. In OS, good threads get lost in the piles of crap. The solution is often more official threads that get stickied.

IMO, just like the ratings thread, there should be a general presentation and general game play thread. possibly even a few gameplay threads such as WR/DB interaction, Line interactions, etc. A franchise thread, progression maybe, superstar mode. Honestly there would be a number of stickies, but it also would stop a lot of garbage threads, or at least keep good ones form being buried in just a couple of hours and then told to do a search as 15 new threads all with the same title are made.

P.S. I made my video thread after posting in the impressions forum because I wanted to move beyond impressions and break the game down much like others have. In the end it's fine that it was closed I have no problems with the new rules.

P.P.S I also hate how this forum has become a total "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" forum. If you complain about Madden, you are a ***** and aren't being fair. if you praise something, you are a madden head. If you are "fair" and both praise and point out flaws you are just trying to get in good with the dev. team and you want t work for EA and want to be part of CD and so forth. If you talk about a flaw, you are told that it is a rare flaw and/or you have no real proof. If you post videos and pictures, you are just trying to copy Apex and a wanna be "troof chaser." If you do show a video, you wern't playing on all-pro that must be rookie mode. I can go on and on. I am not trying to please people here. I want to help the game get better and also when I talk about the game, I want to express myself in the best way I know how. People used to respond to videos, now they hate videos. What ever. I think I am going to take a vacation from OS. Besides It looks like I myself am not wanted here anyway.

Can't we just have a sticky thread for pictures and videos of the demo? I don't have the demo, so I'm dying to find any new pics and video, but I'm relegated to surfing Youtube for new gameplay vids because scrolling through 150 pages for five or ten videos is just too time consuming.
