By ankle socks, I think OP means socks were only the ankle is white and the rest is the colored stripe.
I've read somewhere from Ian that varying sock lengths are NOT in the game, and from the multitude of videos and screens I've seen, that seems to be true. It's not a gamebreaker by any means, but because you do see varying different lengths on Sunday, it would be nice to see in future games.
Though some teams have longer stripes than others (Ex. The Giants sock stripes are longer than the Bears in Madden).Comment

True, the NFL uniform police do not allow alterations to uniforms. It's all about the shield and every player looking the same on a given team. Ask Clinton Portis how seriously the league takes it.Comment
