I know that this is a long read, but it is well worth it. (People might get banned by EA?)

So I was looking for a spot to get madden early like every other person in this thread. I got a lead from an OSer on a store in AZ. However this location is nearly a 3 hr. drive for me. After doing some research I found that there where 2 other stores of this same franchise in my area. I called the first one and was immediatly told that the game would not release until friday. I then called the second location, one of their clerks answers, I ask "Did you guys get your shipment of Madden for the PS3 in yet?" The guy then tells me that the game doenst release until friday. I tried playing dumb and asking, dont games usually drop on Tuesdays? The guy says, "uh yeah but... hold on a sec" At this point I start doing back flips, I'm going to get my copy early. Someone else comes on the phone, I assume that it's the manager. He ask, "youre calling for madden?" He is going to tell me to drop by and pick up my copy right? I try being casual, "yeah man did you guys get your shipment in for the PS3?" I dont remember his exact words, but it went something like this:

Well the game doenst come out till friday. If any one has told you that the game is being sold early they are lying to you. If you get the game and put it in your XBOX or PS3 you will immediatly be banned. Any one who has done this will be banned. EA is really pissed and they will be filling a lot of lawsuits. The guy then goes on to tell me that they have a midnight release. . . blah blah blah. . . Quite frankly after I realized he wasnt gonna let go of it early I tuned out.


I am 99% sure he was BSing, I figure:

1) He wants to scare me from scoring an early copy elsewhere early, so I can buy it on release date at his store

2) He might of thought that I was an EA rep. checking up on stores so he gave me his speech

3) He was telling the truth and people will get banned/stores will get in trouble

So I ask, has any one else heard anything similar? Either form a store, or some of you guys that have inside knowledge of EA.
