    Wow, EA

To say EA has been going overboard with DLC would be an understatement. The upcoming Madden 10 continues EA's attempt at pinching even more out of your virtual wallet for cheats and game enhancements. Here's but a very small sample of the premium packs you'll be charged for:

    * Super Superstar - Downloading this will enable your Superstar to get maximum progression for the length of his career.
    * Pick A Superstar - Downloading this will allow you to pick any NFL player to start Superstar mode with.
    * Dig Deep - For one play, your players respond to the challenges of the moment. All players receive a 10% boost to all stats.
    * Game Day Instincts - For one game, your coaching staff is in the zone. All players receive a 5% boost to all stats; can be used once per year, per franchise.
    * PK Scout - Download this to use a special scout who will reveal all true stats for Punter and Kicker prospects in the upcoming offseason. This is usable in Franchise only.
    * Play Through the Pain - Using this allows for one player to recover from any injury no matter what the severity; usable once per season, per franchise.
    * Not Done Yet - Downloading this allows you to keep one player out of retirement for one more year; usable once per season, per franchise. This is used in Franchise Mode only.

In addition to these game modifiers, players can purchase "Elite Status" through the game's multiplayer lobby. What does it do? It'll give you access to "exclusive VIP lobbies, leaderboards" and will grant you access to "the all new Elite Gametype" which features "All-Madden difficulty level and is tuned exclusively for the hardcore." Wait, what? EA, you're seriously charging money for a new difficulty mode? (IGN reports that it'll be $5.) Those looking for the ultimate Madden experience will have to prepare for sticker shock when the game ships next week.

The only one I can see using is the "Not Done Yet." Just in case I get an unrealistic retirement.

Better than socialism...But we digress into politics. I can't blame EA for this but I can blame them for poor marketing ideas (releasing a game after a pre-season game?).

Honestly... what's Joystiq's beef with Madden? It's starting to get pretty ridiculous...

Anyways, this is pretty old news. If you don't like it than simply don't buy it. Don't see why some people are getting worked up over game cheats.

This comment from Joystiq takes the cake, IMO:

You should actually see all the DLC there is. That doesn't scratch the surface.

You can actually purchase game boosts WHILE PLAYING A GAME/

Economics actually. Capitalism is not a political system.

Its got to be worth more than my gameshark

Point being, I'd rather buy this dlc from ea vs. some rip-off at another place that isn't going to give me any sense of value.

                          Re: Wow, EA

The only one that bothered me is the extra difficulty mode with VIP leader boards and stuff.

Why am I paying for a harder difficulty? Really?

That's where I kinda draw the line. Were paying for a few things that have been in a football game for free now.

If you wanna make me pay, be a little creative with it and not just take things out and put a price tag on it, if your gonna do that make the game 10$ less.

You havent seen one post with me ripping on EA or DLC, and Im not doing that. Just wish this was something different . Im sure they could of come up with something ALOT cooler then this.

Im really thinking about moving my paid off money to NBA 2k10, I think NCAA might just be enough EA football from me, even that game has DLC all over my face.

Those are basically easter eggs there selling. It all boils down to the consumer, if they want it they will buy it, if they don't then they don't. I personally don't have a need for any of those. Let's just hope they don't go over board next year and start charging us for Franchise Mode and roster updates.
