Edited Ratings and Progression

If I edit a player's rating prior to beginning a franchise (for example Shaun Hill who is inexplicably rated lower than Vince Young), will he progress in franchise mode. I know there was a problem with this last year.

I'll tell you this much. It's still in the game if you edit a player's position, he doesn't progress. Change a OLB to an DE or LE to RE, it's curtains, he doesn't progress.

That sucks. What if I just up (Shaun Hill / Alex Smith) or lower (Sopoaga) rating, but leave them at the same position?
