presentation comparing to 2k5..just presentation..

I never saw what you describe in a halftime highlight package. It happened in the weekly Sportscenter stuff occasionally, but it still beats "and now here are your highlights" of 10 yard runs.

Nobody said 2k5 was a better game than Madden 10 - and it DEFINITELY isn't. There's just a few things presentation-wise that can still be a bit better, and the game that set the bar for that was 2k5 - which is why Ian admitted to studying over and over to get things right.

We are definitely going in the right direction with things, but there's nothing wrong with comparing the best entree on the menu (Madden) with the one from the other restaurant that's not quite as good but has better spices (2k5) - know what I mean? It's possible to have a 2k5 - Madden discussion without it being some crazy fanboy war.

There is another football game that came out in 1988 that (for it's time) also had a very good broadcast presentation. And while Madden 10 is superior to this game in everyway this game did things with it's presentation that Madden 10 still barely does as well.

That game, btw, is TV Sports: Football by Cinemaware for the Amiga.

The point I'm trying to make is that what EA did was give us the bare minimum and is trying to pass it off as something new and exciting. And it's niether. EA should have set a new bar with thier new broadcast presentation but the fact is they have barely reached the bar set by older and even much older football games.

The reason is a very simle one....they don'y have to. They've bought up all the competition and can pretty much release any swill they want and still have sell like hotcakes.

Not a bad gig for them, huh?

I think that's a little harsh. Madden has never been about presentation. It's at least a step in the right direction. I still don;t know why EA doesn't even use ESPN in their games. Why not have a NFL Live show after every week? Seems their license is going to waste.
