    Post your house rules

Just looking for some ideas for house rules for offline franchise. After drafting 8 A potential players in one draft i thought i needed to change something. I started just scouting the same ammount of players as i have draft picks.

Sometimes this works ok for me sometimes it screws me over. Usually 3-4 of them are high first round picks, then maybe 1 2nd 1 3rd. Some years though its just all 7 first round pics.

I find that this will get me at least 1 quality player, normally in the first round. Also it gets me 3-4 c or d players per draft(which is pretty realistic). I also then have the satisfaction of finding some gems with no scouting.

I am intrested in seeing what others do to make scouting/drafting along with trades more intresting?

I don't really make trades. I usually let players finish out their contracts unless I need cap money in which case I just cut them.

And as far as drafting goes, I don't really have house rules. I scout as many people as I can, but I very rarely pick guys that I've scouted every time. Some drafts I'm just amazing and some drafts the highest guy I get is a 63 overall HB with D potential.

I made about 10-15 trades once. I had a 125 million cap penalty the next year.

      -65 million over the cap.

May this be a lesson to you. Trade sparingly.

I try to only trade players that are in the last year or two of their contract, or have a very low signing bonus to minimize penalties.

I just make a cupcake team and replace a team and don't trade year one and don't make any trades for players over 82 overall or that have high contracts. Then be very sparing on signings and trades for others to keep the cap down and play on all-madden. I know thats a bit off base but by doing it this way I don't get upset about having a good draft because chances are i'm still going to be as bad as last years lions.

I really don't have any house rules because in my only draft so far I had one with A potential, 2-3 with B, couple with C and a kicker with F. And I play on Beginner play calling, so it stops me from calling 15 different plays through the game.

What do you mean by "stops me from calling 15 different plays through the game"?

                    Re: Post your house rules

Instead of relying on 15 plays throughout a game, it actually helps me call around 25-30 different plays a game and I usually run 60 offensive plays a game.

So with advanced play calling, there isn't as much variety, even with multiple options each play?

Also, what do you do when it's like 3rd and 1 and Madden calls a pass play, even though you know it's best to run the ball in?

I don't know what you really mean.On hardcore I would rely on 2-3 plays for each situation. Now with Beginner I see a couple of new plays a drive.

                          And you can always audible.

I've never used Hardcore, only Advanced. I've tried Beginner, but it just feels weird, if you know what I mean.

It feels weird not being in control lol. I'd like to hear other people's take on beginner.
