Does anyone take control of all teams in Offline Franchise Mode?

I wanted to know that if anyone like me takes control of all the teams in franchise mode. I ask this because it seems like the most realistic way of playing offline franchise mode.

For example the NFL Draft and Free Agent Signing periods are better because you won't see outrageous draft pick picks or idiot signings.

If the Lions draft a QB in the 1rst or 2nd round of the 2010 Draft in your franchise mode then I call that a major FAIL. Same can be said for a Free Agent signing of an obvious 4-3 DT being signed to a team like the Patriots or Dolphins who clearly run 99% of the plays out of a 3-4, Same can be said for a CPU run team like the Vikings drafting a RB in the top 10 when they clearly don't need one.

I have found that when I run each team I can sign each free agent according to their scheme as well as drafting to fit each teams scheme. No more will I see a Cover-2 OLB being picked by a pure 3-4 Defensive squad.

Just thought I ask because it seems like the best thing to do in terms of realistic play.

I'm going to try this....I know some of the other members do this and I have heard good things about it...Also, you can edit coaching schemes to fix things like over blitzing ad RB touchdowns.

I agree that some things are better, like toning down the blitz happy defenses and such but it's a lot of work and on top of that how do you hand trades and such, it totally takes out the CPU trading for players or how do you decide who gets FA's at the end of the year? I mean I would find it hard to not be biased toward my team, especially when it is the Lions and they suck

i do to keep rosters that reflect real life for the season, since there is no single season mode

Ah i never paid attention to their transactions to see if they do. They trade with me though :P But if I controlled them all I would have to decide if the trade was good or not for both teams.

But my bigest thing is how would I control FA signing. I mean lets say 5 teams could use the same player, including my own? :P

My reason are for Free Agent Signings and Draft picks to fit what each team scheme does, and not to draft and sign players that are already filled by solid veterens and upcoming stars and even spots that are filled by high draft picks from the year before.

Also, some teams that are clearly running base 3-4 schemes this year are still default 4-3 teams. Like Denver and Kansas City to be exact. They are both switching the 3-4, but for some reason they are running the 4-3 in Madden. So when I took control I made the switch. And thats just the beginning. Ii also allows me to play younger players that were drafted high, and it also gives me the oppertunity to switch players positions after I draft them.

For example, when I draft George Selvie from USF, I can switch his position that he will project to in the NFL, which is a 3-4 OLB. Same for guys like Ricky Sapp of Clemson and so on. If I didn't control the other clubs I couldn't do this and players would be playing out of position.

Well it is, don't think that it isn't. But in the long run you will find a more rewarding franchise. There is nothing worse then finding out that you lost a key free agent signing of say someone like OLT Alex Barron to the Carolina Panthers when you know that there is no way in hell that they would even remotely think about signing him. But if there are multiple teams that I think would be interested in a key free agent like a Barron then I put offers in and see which team he is most interested in. But I also take into consideration what teams in real life would actually do this. For example a team like the Bills wouldn't put that large of an offer say compared to a team like the Raiders or the Redskins so they would obvioulsy put a larger offer in to him.

As for my team this is what I do. I pick one or two franchise that I will control in games. For example my two right now are the Bengals and the Texans and every other team I allow the computer to control them in sim situations. If and when my two teams meet I pick one or the other to control.

But this way I find that everything is just so much more realistic. It's actualyl kind of fun to shape not just your franchise but the entire league which is one of the biggest reason why I do it. One thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to be impartial. No bias at all, and thats something I know is hard to do. So if your an Eagles fan you can't consistently screw the Giants...LOL

I dont know what the point of this is. It takes all the fun out of facing teams that are built by the CPU. It also takes the challange aspect out of the game if you ask me.

No offense to some guys that do it, but it has to be a major case of OCD.

One day, in a far away land where unicorns roam, maybe the A.I. will be intelligent enough to build realistic competitive foes in franchise mode. It's not like it's a joy controlling 32 teams' off-season moves. For people like me who have trouble enjoying an NFL simulation where nothing the A.I. does simulates anything close to an intelligent human GM, it really is necessary. I hope I live to see that day.

It's not about handicapping the A.I. it's actually about making your opposition more challenging.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The CPU makes some of the worst decisions ever when drafting and signing free agents. I mean why the hell would the CPU draft Sam Bradford for the New England Patriots or have the Cardinals draft Arrelious Benn? It's just downright stupid and its not like I'm taking advantage of the system, I'm actually making it harder on myself. I draft players that would best fit say the Steelers franchise instead of letting the CPU draft Jevon Snead with their 14th Overall pick instead of say someone like Russell Okung or Trent Williams. Or allowing the CPU to draft Greg Hardy for the Texans which would make no sense what so ever and passing up on Eric Berry or Taylor Mays or Dez Bryant.

That is a huge deal and its usually a franchise killer to see Aarron Rogers backing Carson Palmer. When that happens then you'll see what I mean. Shaping the league to replicate what you see in real life doesn't make the game easier it makes the game harder and it makes it more realistic.

I have been going back and forth with this a lot lately. I have been playing around simming some franchises just to see what the differences are and here is my problem.

In the past I have always controlled all 32 teams. However, while messing around with franchise and just controlling 1 team I noticed things that don't happen if you control all 32 teams, even if you change 31 to CPU for everything. Durring the draft, there is a lot of trading this year. I saw about 4 significant trades and they actually made sense to me. All for were people trading back into the late half of round 1 to get someone they wanted. I was able to trade away my 24th pick for an 8 in round 2 and 4 because the other team wanted the last first round DT. It was pretty logical. I saw this happening between CPU and CPU teams as well. Also, I noticed a lot more teams active on the trade block, even though it seems easier for CPU to CPU trades than for a human to make the trade. The Vikes had one of the Williams brothers on the block and even though I offered them exactly what they said they were looking for and the interest bar was green they still rejected every offer I made.

Now, I agree the cpu makes some bone head draft picks. They still seem to mostly take the best player available no matter what unless it is a FB. My delima is giving up active cpu trades and competition for free agents for more logical drafting and signing. I can't decide right now.
