Situation came up in my OF.

I know it was frowned upon back in NCAA, but what are the thoughts on sprinting to the sideline with your QB immediately after the snap?

Anyone who can't stop you from doing that needs to play something other than football. maybe uno or monopoly.

yeah i would just use the wide blitz from the 3-4 normal in the jets playbook and destroy that roll out. on the first play that pass should be a floater because he is throwing it back across his body on the run. passes like that one need to get intercepted 7 out of 10 times and need to be incomplete the other 3 times.

it is pretty lame but i dont think its cheese because you can stop it blitz the side he rolls to spread the dline and have them rush outside spy the QB we had a guy that used to do this but he learned quickly that people will figure it out

i wouldn't call that cheese. maybe annoying and desperate.

that's easy to stop with either QB contain or CB blitz plays.

if somebody tried that garbage more than twice on me, they'd be toast every other time.

I don't think it's cheese, you can make an easy adjustment to stop this play and if the guy isnt going it then its his fault

No cheese... dude was doing 2 man rushes. He could easily call contains and annihilate that.... or OLB/DB blitzes.

BTW the scrambling really didn't do anything for the QB to help. He could've made those exact same throws from the pocket. Again, no cheese.

Thats cheese in my opinion. I dont think its a question of not being able to stop it, because of course it can be stopped, but thats not how football is played. I dont agree with doing it because thats not how QBs do irl. I understand there are a lot of unrealistic plays and moves you can do in this game and its inevitable, but that isnt real football, and I enjoy playing the game as realistically as I can and getting a good realistic style of play from my opponent.

Most guys only care about winning, which is fine for them. I want to win also, but I'd rather see it played at least similar to how its played on TV because I can appreciate the sport for what it really is having played it on a small D3 level. Realistic football is important to me, and snap & sprint isnt hardly realistic and can be avoided so Im not a fan of doing it. Its actually frowned upon and against the rules in pretty much every league I play in!

i use the play in your first video alot online and most people have problem stoping it because my te is always wide open and my 1wr also get open if they try to stop my te with cover 2. if you try to cb blitz i will just throw it to my te. my average opponent level is 18, so even guys with high lv; have problem stoping the play.

Ive done worse. Ive called HB direct snaps and screens all game. I have around 20 plays I can ran over and over again that are money. On defense I either nano or run the 1-5-5 blitzs.

What you did was attempt cheese against a ******.

If the QB is fast enough, it doesn't matter how many spys or contains you have set up; he's still going to get to the sideline with no problem.

OLB/CB Blitzes don't always solve the problem, either, since those plays leave an easy hot read completion open in the hole where the blitzer(s) came from.

I don't have any problem with people scrambling after the pocket breaks down, but when you're sprinting to the sidelines right at the snap, it's obvious your intent is not to play real football, but to play cheeseball.

CB Blitz doesn't always solve the problem, either, since those plays leave an easy hot read completion open in the hole where the blitzer came from.

In real football this would be called a moving pocket designed to get the QB more time and away from the pass rush.

What pass rush?

Both of these plays had no threat of a rush at all.

One situation even had a mere two defenders rushing the passer.

The only reason people abuse this tactic is because the AI in Madden doesn't react properly to QBs once they've broken the pocket.

Linemen are the only defenders in Madden who are programmed to chase QBs behind the line of scrimmage, and even then, most of them would prefer to sit there playing patty cake on the line of scrimmage instead of breaking to the outside and going after the QB. Then when they finally do go after the QB, they walk towards him at a leisurely pace instead of sprinting, because CPU linemen are programmed to avoid sprinting while pass rushing.

Defenders playing off the line don't follow these plays correctly, either, as they just stand still in the center of their zone or tag along behind their man, which if you wait long enough, will eventually open up an easy completion to someone, regardless of what coverage is called downfield.

This is not a moving pocket (otherwise, both the offensive AND defensive lines would be moving with the QB), this is deliberately breaking the pocket to take advantage of AI that won't come up to challenge the QB when he's behind the line of scrimmage.

If this was real football, the sideline defender on both of those plays would have come up and knocked your QB out the second he broke contain and started sprinting laterally behind the line of scrimmage.

But since it's Madden, the outside defenders just stand there like idiots since they aren't programmed to leave their zone or their man under any circumstances.

In my league the person that does that would be booted immediately. My definition of cheese is doing something that would not be done in the NFL. In those video clips the QB was under no pressure when he scrambled to the sideline -Total Cheese. If he were being pressured and scrambled out of the pocket that would be fine. That was just cheap, exploiting, cheese play. Not to mention it was being done with a team that has a mobile QB with a speed rating of 78.

If you don't give the QB time to throw the ball, he won't complete the pass, though.

Bring six guys at him, 2 from the edges and 1 up the A-gap and I bet it would at least harass him and not let him have a flat footed form throw from the sideline. Especially if you use the "show blitz" (gets them at the line from the snap) and have a man cover play behind it (so less worry about holes in zones).

If they aren't using a TE, maybe even blitz one of the safties as well (manual control it for guys that like to do that). And an outside rush from the DL.

The first throw is what would get me only because he was throwing on the run across his body. I never would complete that ball with most slider sets though if it's online, I guess it's possible with 50 QB Acc. to make throws like that.
