Is a morph-free Madden game possible?

(XBox 360) - In Fight Night Round 4 I never see a fighter punch through another fighter like I see the occasional player morph through another player in Madden (even after patch 2) while trying to make a tackle. Granted, the Madden developers have a tougher job, I understand. Here is an example from my latest franchise game at All-Madden level where I use the hit stick, and instead of Ronde Barber jarring the ball loose from Steve Smith, he instead harmlessly morphs through him. You can the video in real time, and see the stills I took from it below.

My question is, are the Madden devs at least getting close so that we soon won't have to see this again? Or is it impossible to totally eliminate things like this from the game with so many moving objects on the field?

I don't want this to become a bash EA thread. I would like a serious answer from someone who knows. Maybe compromises are being made so that more things can be added to the game, and that the occasional player morph through player, ball through player, and ball through crossbar on field goals are considered acceptable if they happen infrequently.

I've long since turned off "Fight For The Fumble" and I would turn off the goal line and chain gang refs if I could. But I for one would much rather have fewer features in exchange for solid gameplay and never having to witness another morph again.

It will be interesting to see if the guys that are doing BackBreaker are able to solve the morphing / clipping issue.

Re: Is a morph-free Madden game possible?

I started an online Franchise last week.Since we are playing all the games we turnd it up to All-Madden for a better challenge.

Now b4 that I would only play out the games in the playoffs or big game during the season on All-Pro.I have played a lot of games offline,I mean ALOT!
And I have NEVER seen morphing till last week when we started playing on ALLMadden. Maybe its just an All Madden thing maybe not.Just thought I would share that.

And with the Fight for the fumble. Is there a way to turn that off during an ONline Franchise?

It's only noticeable in slow motion replay. When you are playing a game it looks normal.

I think this is what people are talking about when they say the "engine" or the "core" of the game is broken. I saw it real time on the all-pro and all-madden levels along with olineman sliding 3-4 yards to start a blocking animation all the time when I used to play (haven't sine the 1st weekend after patch 2 dropped).

I honestly believe this madden will always have these issues, they've been there from madden 06 to 10. I think it possible to have a game without them or with them at a minimum, I just don't think the foundation of madden will ever allow this game to do that.

Definitely not true, it's noticable when you play. However, most other games with full contact have this problem as well. I'm willing to bet that even FN4 has issues.

It looks like Steve Smith is Juking your tackle anyway. Thats what it looks like his feet are doing.

I think whats worse about the video is the problem i often have of the momentum of the recieve LOSING TEN yards before even trying to turn around....so annoying. i know momentum is a factor and should be accounted for but it happens way too much. I mean I had to watch the video 3 times to see what direction the Panthers were actually going.

I am a big fan of FN4 and can assure you it does not have these issues. I don't know why it was rated so low in a recent sports games poll. It's the most solid and enjoyable sports game I've played this year, especially with the create-a-boxer feature, extra DLC and button configs which really add to the game.

But getting back to Madden, I'm sure the Madden devs have a much tougher time than the FN4 devs do, with 22 players and 7 officials on the field at the same time.

And while the morphs still don't happen a lot, they definitely are noticeable on the field in real time, and if it happens on a crucial play it can change the outcome of the game you are playing. I just hope they address these issues in Madden 11 before adding more silly features like "Fight For The Fumble".

                        Agreed.

I haven't played FN4 yet. It's on my list of games to buy off eBay. I really enjoyed FN2, but didn't like FN3 as much. Not sure where FN4 is going to fall in the real of realistic & fun. Sometimes the two don't go hand in hand.

They brought the price down to $39.95 and I highly recommend it. They balked at giving players the button config at first, but the way they have it set up it is much easier to throw uppercuts now than with the R-stick. Plus, the controls are much more responsive than they were with FN3. Basically they made all the right tweaks over FN2 and FN3 and with the last patch, you tire much quicker if you throw too many punches and button bashers will lose energy rapidly. It is much more tactical than it was even before the last patch. I liked every change they made.

FNr4 plays more like fnr2 and nothing like fnr3.

it's almost like they took fnr2 and gave it a graphics makeover.

You have to wonder what universe the physics engine for this game comes from sometimes because the in-game physics certainly don't behave as they do in this universe. That "morphing" has been present for years and if it's still present on the next-gen versions, then I don't think I'm going to get my hopes up for it being fixed any time soon. It seems every single physcis glitch in the game has been present for years.
