In this video from NFL.com, Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley and Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugua are the first to get their Madden NFL 11 headshots created with EA's new 3-D pod.

Sweet, they took the right direction last year by getting most of the bigger name players faces in the game.

This year you would imagine EVERY starter will have their own face.

Yes you'd imagine it is in game since they are taking 3-Dimensional shots of the players heads.

This is a huge addition. Go play Madden 10 and look at Sidney Rice's head when tossing the coin, it's cringe worthy :P

This will enhance Madden's authenticity very much. But you could be right, they may also use the faces in roster management and stuff, don't see why not.

Seriously... who really needs authentic 3D game faces... fix the gameplay first then worry about fluff.

When you play the game you see the face .01% of the time on a replay (if you even get a good shot)

I get your point, but half the experience is authenticity...which you cannot to without it.


My personal belief is we should be FAR past the need to be doing this for the 2011 game. That's not how it went though.

You have a point but i think that's the same thing UFC Undisputed used to scan their fighters and the facials animations in that game are unreal.

yeah i agree with both you guys... but with UFC there are no helmets... i can see the need to get the faces 100%.... with football 1) you are playing with a camera that is zoomed out

2) facing the back of the offense/or defense (NCAA).

3) the camera almost never zooms into the players face (other then the year madden had the zoom into the QB face everytime he walked to the line) and please EA do not bring that back

but yeah it adds to the realism/authenticity but its not needed for football IMO (maybe for cutscenes, but what happens when your in year 10 of franchise?)

I am an agreement with you in all your post in this thread.They need fix gameplay and animation.Not worry about a players 3-D pic, when they only going to see the player face on the SUB and DEPH CHART SCREENS.

Well guys, the innovation very well could be making all the players real and true to life. For years all of the players on the field have generic bodies and faces, and it keeps the game from having that authentic feel. With this, it will make the game alot more believable and immerse you more into the game. I, for one, love this. I think this is great news. Now, to get facial hair, dreads, long hair, tattoos, arm veins, etc...and it will be right where I want it.

I agree 100%....they said it's something that no one else has done before. I bet money this is on the horizon!

Probably will make the game 3-d capable.
